Egypt-Sharm El Sheikh
I'm looking at booking a 5 star, all inclusive holiday in the aforementioned place for a week in October this year. Has anyone been?
What kind of weather can we expect at that time of year? any places to look out for or to avoid etc etc?
Cheers

We have been to the Sinai 3 times now. Once to Sharm, once to Taba and once to Dahab. It's an amazing place. We normally go in July/August, when you can pretty much rely on 40°C+, we have seen 50°C+ too!
This time of year, I imagine that 30-35° would be likely and consistent too. In 3 separate trips, we haven't seen so much as a drop of rain. I would imagine October to be similar temps to that.
It's quite a primative place. The Airport is basic and lots of teenage troops walking around with guns. Take care if you have a good-looking Girlfriend, particularly if she is Blonde! They do like that! Harmless though. I think I got offered 3 camels for Beccy on one occassion, but plenty of nudges and winks!
We stayed in the Hyatt Regency in Sharm, it is a 5-Star Deluxe hotel and really lives up to that. I think it is still arguably the best hotel in Sharm. It has its own private Coral reef and miles-and-miles of Marble floors etc. You just couldn't hope for better. They have their own Shuttle bus into Sharm town, where you can find a mall (if they have rebuilt it, that was the one that was bombed) and some familiar places, like KFC, Hard Rock etc. We hardly ventured out of the hotel though. The Hotel staff are among the friendliest people I have ever met and consist of 99% male, you hardly ever see a woman working there. It is funny watching the fully cloaked-up Arab women in the swimming pool though!!
Hope this helps!!

There is a good choice of food to eat and there was a woman in the main food area that sat in the corner with a large brick oven, cooking pitta's which were absolutely lovely.
Hyatt's reef is accessed via a long wooden jetty, which as you walk along it, you can see into the shallow part of the reef which is only a few inches deep. At the end of the jetty, it goes deeper and you can snorkel along it. We saw many species of marine life, including a HUGE eagle ray.
We didn't really do any trips, but if you like marine life, you MUST do the trip to Tiran island. It is spectacular. You pass a huge shipwreck stranded on the reef, which is so amazing. You also visit some great snorkelling sites. If you go on the properly arranged ones, you will be on a large flashy boat too.
Makes me want to go back.

We have never paid more that about a grand for a weeks stay, including flights. Normally around £850-900. I will try and sort some links for you. We normally spend no more than £250 whilst there either and thats NOT going All Inclusive.

I might be able to help you Rob... I work for a tour operator and we offer Sharm.
What dates do you want in October? Gatwick flights ok?
Just priced it up now, and I can offer a week in October from £620 at Hyatt Regency on B&B basis, or two weeks from £975.
And that includes flights, inflight meals, taxes, transfers and entry visa for Egypt. I.e. no extras!!
Prices vary hugely in October though - it's a very popular time. Prices above are cheapest for October. If you wana go around half-term time, end of October, its much more expensive.
PM me or mail me at steve@aquatours.com if yr interested.
cheers,
steve

Hi Rob - that's per person!! Sorry - all prices quoted are per person.
Could do 12-21 Oct (9 nts) Hyatt Regency Sharm, B&B: £755. (Full board basis would be £1065).
Or could do 12-19 Oct (7 nts) Hyatt Regency Sharm, B&B: £635. (Full board basis would be £875).
They don't offer any all-inclusive option there.
For All-inclusive basis I could offer 5* Grand Azure resort . http://tropicanahotels.com/en/azure/index.htm
Could do 12-21 Oct (9 nts) Grand Azure Sharm, All-Inclusive: £865.
Or could do 12-19 Oct (7 nts) Grand Azure Sharm, All-Inclusive: £720.

Never been before but on the count down for May
Most stories about the place seem to be very good.
For info we are at the Radison SAS for 7 nights all inclusive for £319 each.

One thing I will say and OK, I am a fussy bastard, but I wouldn't stay in anything other than 5 Star or 5 Star deluxe over there.
It is very primative and I imagine that the lesser hotels are fairly shabby.
