In other words, no one has any money to do it up, so make it look as shite as possible, ghetto style i.e. council estate

Loads of camper vans etc have it as well! A friend of mine restores them and customers come in wanting that look! He just laquers over the top of the bare metal to prolong its life! Got to admit though they do look kinda cool in their own little way!!

Did the Ł600 include sanding the paint off rat style?

Yup, some rat look VWs are mental, properly serious motors.

Unfortunatley the closest you get to rat look in the ford world is just total sheds, which is not quite the same, lol.

Not at all, some spend a LOT of money to get it looking right.

Im doing similar with my S13, not rust, but just mean and moody, nothing flash, hence the matt black paint etc.

I used to be well into my vdubs, not everyone understands rat look but there are some seriously cool beetle/campers out there!

I think the guys that donut them two mk2 escorts at the ace cafe have gone for a sort of rat look-ish...

Not for everyone, but cheaper than restoring your car

The new rat hotrods are actually painted so they rust. theyre painted with some sort of metal flakes in the paint so it rusts on the outside. Proper metallic paint
