Default 4 injectors V's 8 injectors--whats better

I know that some of the high powered Cosworths run 4 injectors and i know some run 8, but what is the advantage, if any, of running an extra set of injectors???????

Or is it just a case of "Pub Talk"

Better atomisation from the second set although the horizontally mounted inlet does cause excessive fuel drop out.... but still better IMO.

Overall though given the extra hardware, the wayit fires and the aggro and expense to get it working, id opt for 4 injectors everytime.

What do you accually need for both set-ups then, say for instance you want 550bhp,and what sort of costs?

surely more chance of failure. If one of the second injector fails it will run lean as one of the two will still be firing and kill engine. If one of the injectors in a 4 setup fails it will just drop onto 3.

My Dad went for a modded plenum elbow and 4 x 750cc injectors on a Level 8...cost the replacement injectors and about £60 for the plenum and mods....

And Marco...PECTEL is spelt PECTEL!!

My ECU will handle either. Used to have 4 x 750cc's now using 8 x 575cc's with my new engine spec.

Technicly 8 is better if the 4 are downstream, but would you REALLY feel the difference? hmm doubtful.

And for the small (i expect/understand) advantage of 8, id rather run 4 for the far simpler set up, and less chance of catestrophic failiaure...

I just knew all that gay talk about Stage 1's wouldnt last....

Tiff by far the best way to go is 8 injectors.... it means you can poodle round the town etc and its like you've got a sensible stage III car, nice and economical on long runs etc...

But.... when you need the power... its there !

Anyway... why are you asking us ?

Just ask Karl....

Stu...surely a fuck off big injector x 4 squirting on a long run will overall be worse on fuel than a small injector x 8 As when you go to overtake your put the foot down and be using more fuel than the 4 of 8 scenario?

No mate as if we require 14:1 and use an injector twice the size we simply halve its on time.

But on a 4 set up, surely if its on three the cylinder with the fooked injector could run so lean say on full chat the fooker will melt? Or is my lack of tuning knowledge showing thru?

dont you need 8 as with high flow injectors the time they need to be on at low load ect would be minut so have 8 medium size ones so then use 4 at low fuel requirement giving good atomioizTION ETC AND GET ALL 8 GOING WHEN MORE FUEL IS NEEDE.
aLSO I SEEM TO REMEBER THERE IS AN ADVANTAGE OF having the injector further away from the valve for high engine speed performance
