i agree, but the only problem with rockshox (and they have ALWAYS been the same) is that they feel very linear compared to other brands. The marzocchis are nice and progressive and are much stiffer than others. At the end of the day, marzocchi have a MX background, and use a lot of that technology in their MTB forks. Simple, yet effective.

In my opinion, you cant beat a marzocchi value for money and performance wise.

PMSL, no its ok. A bit TOOOOO much travel, lol. How much you flogging them for? i had 2 pairs of normal (if you can call them that) monter-t's and they were the bollox. Did a load of custom valving to them too to make them more supple. proper forks, but heavy as!

Dunno, they're a mate of mines and he's not sure how much theyre worth tbh. Like you say, they're only usefull for doing stupid drops etc. No use for downhill or anything else. They're pretty rare though so he might be able to get some decent money for them.

I got the 03 rockhopper without discs. i was advised at the time that cable discs are no better than a good V brake and if i wanted discs get hydraulics. how true that is i dunno This is mine.....

I bought it to replace this, 1992 or 3 rockhopper comp. looking slightly dated but it was a great bike so rather than see what else was out there i just went and replaced it with another rockhopper i find you have so much more control with rigid forks, last time i was out on my new one with my brother i came off a small jump and had no control over the front end. i ate a lot of mud and a couple of tree roots that day, i blame those crap forks

Cheers for the advice folks, theres so many options its easy for a novice like me to get confused but im pretty sure on what im looking for now

I used to build my own wheels as well. Was a dab hand with a spoke key in the day

I would go an get pic's of mine, but its up the garage, and i'm lazy!
agree with the comment on cable disc's though....
I was going to go to Afan In wales on my gt (just when i starting to get into my biking) on my GT with cable discs..... My 2 mates convinced me to get a hope front disc (the joys of getting bits at trade price ) saying that my current brakes won't have lasted..... Ands guess what - the rear cable disc was absolutly crap after the first day..... - V brakes would have been better then crap cable discs imo!

v-brakes are deffo better than cable discs in general, although the avid cable discs are just as good as mosy hydraulic systems!

i find i barely ever use the front brake that might be a bad riding style though, a rear hydraulic disc would be nice though, something that locks up well.

on another note, do you all wear helmets when youre out ? i bought one once but it looked like a half football on the top of my head i often think though when youre doing 30mph down a stoney hill its kinda stupid not to wear one, i wouldnt do 30mph on a motorbike without one. why do they look alright on other people but ridiculous on yourself ?

cheers
