isnt it more comlicated than that though, its late though and i cant be arsed to think about it.....
Premiere = prem-e-air as in a film premiere
and Premier= prem-ear as in premier division
so depends on the e i spose

well no your phonetic spelling is wrong then as prem-e-air-ship comes across as premiereship when its premiership. prem-ear-ship is more accurate.
