lol.... i would hope so too!
skyline is gonna be making a shit load of torque at that power surely.
yes mate,, some lad is full of shit.. skylines surely must produce loads of torque as they got big engines, and got 6 cylinders..
a 500 bhp skyline wouldnt just keep up,, it would pass and keep on pulling!!

my mate had a gen 550 bhp r33 done by middlehurst engineering and it was quick as expected but a proper 400 bhp cos can keep with it up to 140 no props so you would prob need at least 375 bhp to trouble one

dont worry m8 most road going skylines arnt really 500 bhp its all pub talk but ther is lots of genuine ones but not every skyline that you come accros are i find mostly to be track cars and non road cars .i had a m8 turn up in a r33gt and told me it was around 490 bhp. went out in it told him it was more like 490 donkys

TOTB1 terminal speed results over 500m is a good indication of how much extra genuine power is needed.
Pretty much none

500bhp Skyline @ 1600kg (approx - model dependent) = 312.5bhp per tonne
330bhp Cossie @ 1250kg (approx - model dependent) = 264bhp per tonne.
Bye-bye Cossie.....
For it to be even-stevens, the Skyline would need to be around the 425bhp mark. So the car that Cam raced only had a "claimed" 330bhp, big difference from an "actual" 330bhp.... .
When my car was only 400bhp, it beat several 550bhp Skylines over a standing 1.25mile and when it was 515bhp, beat a 650bhp R33 into next week .
It's all about power to weight .

Agree with abdr500. We have a lad local with a Skyline (Max Powered one at that ) which everybody says is 500bhp and it most certainly isn't as he only just had the legs on my brothers 230bhp Fiesta. A real 500bhp Skyline is going to be a very quick car

TOTB1...
Two 3 door rear wheel drive RS's:
Andy Wornell 126mph at 500m
Rob Wiles 123mph at 500m
Both with claimed 500+bhp on the website.
GTRs at 500m:
Andy Barnes 130mph (550bhp est at the time)
Glen H 127mph (540+bhp back then)
Mike Smith 126mph (515bhp back then)
The GTRs also pulled higher 1.25mile times, so in conclusion:
The GTRs were better off the line.
The GTRs were travelling faster at 500m (ie were not being caught)
The GTRs were travelling much faster at 1.25miles.
I use the speed at 500m, since that is a determinant of rate of acceleration from meaningful speeds ie 30mph+. The traction really only has an effect on the ET (elapsed time), hence why I ignored the times, but they were also massivley faster.

ps
The difference in launch you would need between runs to see 5mph difference on the quarter as a result on a car doing 120-130 would be HUGE.
So if what you are saying is true then the lads in question REALLY couldnt drive for shit.
Surely they cant have been THAT bad Mike?????
