Default no power!! update

ive used my missus car 4 work and noticed that it sounds like its drwaing in air and is seriously lacking pull(struggles thru the gears and slows when u hit a hill at 70-75 and seems like theres a flat spot if u change gear at the wrong time) , its an escort zetec 1.6 on an N plate after speaking to someone they suggested it may be the idle speed control valve but after reading up on the probs it cures nowhere does it suggest the symptoms of her car.

i dont want to buy an i.s.c.v if this is not goin to cure the problem ,any help is appreciated

thank u

Could be a slight misfire, mine had it for a while, check the plugs for excess carbon build up, and if your leads are old, change them thats what was causing mine

absolutely nothing to do with the ISCV!

not being funny but i would try resetting the ecu - my old dears car did the same, was slow as hell and very unresponsive. reset the ecu then drove the car hard and it picked up a lot!

im not sure on which, but most modern cars 'adapt' to driving style over time, so if you drive like an old woman then it will adapt to this style of driving. could be bollocks but it worked for mine!

btw. reset ecu by disconnecting battery for 15mins i think it is, then when you restart it you need to drive it like you stole it lol and in that time the ecu will realise your driving style and increase the fueling.

hope im not talkin shit

Sounds like your engine is in perfect working order. I used to have one and it was never quick.

cheers lads, just discovered the exhaust is blowin slightly from the middle box around the weld, could this cause the lamber sensor to be confused and mess up the fuel to air mixture sending the wrong signal to the ecu, brain , its started hunting and irratic idlin aswell as stalling

thanx

check breather pipes as they perish and allow extra air to be drawn in-have a listen around the inlet manifold
