Kos is in Greece I think, therefore its the EU.
The limit of 3200 ciggies is just a guide. The truth is there is no upper limit on the amount of fags you can bring into the UK from most EU countries (Greece included), but HM Customs and Excise don't like that at all. They have therefore produced the intimidatory leaflet (attached below) and said that if you have more than 3200 fags on you you'd better have a bloody good excuse. Their policy is arguably in breach of European law but hey, when it comes to money for the UK Treasury, who gives a f*ck about the law?!

i think gran canaria will change soon tho, for some reason they get special dispensation on tax so thats why you can only bring 200 back, kos is deffo in the EU so no probs there, the point i was making is that it is ILLEGAL to buy cigarettes abroad to make profit, you are allowed 3200 per person as long as they are for your own use , (pisses me off a bit because europe is supposed to be free trade, yet all of a sudden there is a limit of 3200 ? how did they come to that figure ? if you go away once a year and want to stock up on your fags then you better not smoke more than 9 a day,)
customs and excise have more powers than the queen, people other than car fanatics do occasionally surf bullitin boards looking for leads, why admit guilt and make it easy for them

Also Nomad, I don't know if you read that pdf file but what do you think about the tone of it, bearing in mind that in another high profile Court case, Customs and Excise were reminded that in the UK, the common law is that a person is innocent until proven guilty. It is not therefore sufficient for them to simply reject a statement that the large stash of fags in a fella's suitcase are for his own personal use in order to take them off him. The onus is on Customs and Excise to prove they are not for personal use, not the other way round. Cheeky f*ckers never tell you that when you disembark, do they?
