Default Limits of a standard cossie turbo?

As title really, after ive run it in what can I wind a T3 upto?

Set to around 22psi and holds it at the mo (with greens and rs500cooler)

Going to get it rolling roaded after run in and guess they will be able to tell me, but im just wondering?

Will I need to uprate fuel pump?

You don't really want to add more than about another 2-3 psi max as it will fook the turbo eventually and will make very little difference over 25 anyway!

Lol yeah just changed it
If the fuel pump and wiring are in good order then there is no real need to replace either for that level of tune mate

mate it all depends on the condition of the turbo, at 22psi it wont last that long if the turbos standard, but then depends on how much right foot you give it , as soon as you turn up any standard turbo thay dont last long, best bet is to get one built for the spec you wont as in hybrid, this is what i did i spoke to ian howells and told him i wanted to 17psi on a -34 set up he put together a t3 stage 1 hybrid and its been great , b4 that i turned up the standard t3 and it dident last very long, if you think ford set it to run 5 to 7 psi and say a turbo only has about 75000 miles if its not turned up , so as soon as you turn the boost up the life of the turbo will shorten!
my s2 has done over 115000 miles and im on my 3rd turbo..
but my wifes frst is standard only runs fords 5 to 7 psi and the impeller is perferct its done 73000 but never been abused so that tell you something

Thats a bit worrying really when standard boost is around 7psi!

To be honest though I drive like a complete grandad only giving it stick when in the mood.

Cant turn the boost down now though as I already want more

remember the standard turbo does not have 360 bearings so as you turn the boost up the bearing try to pull themselfs out..

On mine and Popeyes Stage 1 Chips, it used to spike about 29psi, then hold 25psi, then it would drop hagain higher up the rev range

Mine lasted 7k on the car with some fruity driving and it was fine when i took it of.....It is now strapped to an old X reg Mitsi Lancer and is still going strong

what kills a turbo though is the speed. 29 psi in the mid range does not mean that the turbo is spinning faster than 22psi at the top end

becuase the engine cannot consume as much air in the mid range, the compressor does not have to work as hard to supply it with that level of boost. after all, the boost is basically just supplying the engine with more air than it can handle to stuff it into the cylinders harder to try and fill them more.
