Ford v's honda grudge match
After the on going topic of which is better the Focus RS or the Civic type-r i just wondered if there were any Focus RS owner both standard and moddified that would be up for this.
I think i could get some civics to have a go and know i can get some dc2 integras to have a day out and have a bit of a laught.
I was thinking of just meeting up at a rwyd at york dragway or similer, the integra boys would prefere a track but i think that would be to hard to organise considering its only a bit of fun and the turn "grudge" should be taken lightly.
O and anything else ford and fwd that wants to have a go would be welcome.

Thats why i said standard for standard and then modded v modded, its all just for the crack imo.
There have been loads of events like this organised over the years by car mags. To be fair the best route to go down would probably to aproch a car mag ie performance ford, jap performance etc and see what they think???????????????
The post has been up less than an hour on 1 type-r forum and there is already interest from that side just none from the passionford lot

RST's are crap off the line. That's why I prefer to go from a rolling start. Had I not just wiped the engine out in my Fes I would have ben up for this

I'm working on it but it'll never be built and run in anytime in the near future and to pay for the new motor I've had to put the Escort up on Axle stands and not renewed the insurance

All thats going to happen is a lot of the honda lot wont do 1/4 mile and prefere corners and the ford lots cars are all in bits lol

Ford v honda aint really faif in the 1/4 mile stakes though is it.
How the hell a stripped out itr with 230bhp modded could keep with a 4x4 400bhp saph is just not realistic.
The honda boys know that and i think it would be a very good day with just the fwd fords ie rs turbos focus rs's and all the other fwd fords.
I think the hondas could surprise a few people tbh.

I was thinking of nos for mine but not to keen on it shitting itselt tbh and throttle bodys are just to expensive and loud for an everyday car

Standard RST's are pants I don't think anybody with an ounce of sense will disagree with that. Once a few (lots) quid has been spent you can take on much quicker cars.
I'll have a stab against most cars win or lose, modded or not, I always have respect for a quick car whether I like the car or not.

I think the comments about the rst's was aimed at the people with the blinkers on, unfortunatly there a loads of people in every marque that thinks there favoured brand of car is the be all and end all of motoring

TBH nova turbo owners do the same thing!
quarter mile is just not a good indication of which car is quicker in the real world, its all about the launch but real world driving isnt, so RST owners feel poorly represented at the quarter generally.
cant blame them for that, but its still fun to poke fun at them

yeah i fancy selling you it, but given that it and the exhaust were stolen, it somewhat limits my odds.
They sound like they got away with a good bit of hardware
I would have thought they would have just trailored the car or at least just removed the head with tb's and cams etc all as 1 unit
Anyway whats the plans for it, you getting it back up and running????

They couldnt remove it as even though they had the workshop door open it had anti ramraid devices so that it was impossible to get cars in or out, they must have been there all night stripping it more or less i should think, they took EVERYTHING, even the fuel lines etc
Literally all i have left is a shell and cage (cause it was weld in not bolt in!) and half an engine
Hard to know what to do now, as its basically well beyond economical repair really.
only way to sort it really is either spend 20K on parts again to build it again with all new parts like before, or buy a smacked up one and use all the bits form that, and TBH a standard one would bore the shit out of me anyway.
ive no plans to do anything with it any time soon.
did think of maybe chucking a RWD axle in it and chuck an XE on a type 9 in it, would make an amusing drift car like that.

Rear wheel drive ITR has been done and it would make a fun drift wagon.

How about, if we're going to make it fair and all.. the Honda lot can use E-K reg cars then? If Ford lot have to use old cars which aren't technically up to date as the benchmark of FWD cars then why should the Honda boys be allowed to? Surely if we're to make it fair of course
I don't expect anyones FWD RST to be able to keep up with any of the honda's FWD cars, its just not going to happen, we're talking cars that were made in the day of just getting an engine, slapping a turbo and a bodykit on it and throwing it out of the factory!
