My trackday jump!!
Went to Kirkistown in N. Ireland to do a trackday yesterday. The main straight has a left hand kink halfway down that I take flat in 5th at 110mph.So at this kink I was running behind a TVR Speed 6 I think its called (straight 6,dry sumped, weighs 1100kg) and he lost it right in front of me.Couldnt risk jumping on the brakes as the back end is very light at this point on the track and loads of cars have sailed off backwards into the tyre wall over the years, so I braked gently enough and headed on to the grass as straight as I could (was doing about 95 mph at this stage). So I manage to keep it straight on the grass and am running parallel to the track,we're getting thrown around abit as it not exactly Wimbledon standard grass when all I sudden I feel the car land nose down (didnt even realise the car was airborne!!! ).I figure the car was still doing about 70-80 mph when it landed.Car still kept straight and I finally got it stopped with steam pumping out from under the bonnet.A water hose got ripped off on the landing.Anyhow,we went back to look at the marks and from where the car took off to where it landed is about 45 feet!! I took a photo, the cone marks the take off point and my mate is standing where it landed!!! You can see the gouge marks where the gearbox cradle hit the ground on the left of my mate. Did a repair and the car felt fine for another 50 miles on track . Regards Micky

I feel I can offer some advice after my error last year at Bedford. You see the black/grey tarmac bit between the two green bits. That's the bit you're sposed to be driving on
