Hi all, need some help on a problem. I am getting devorced from my wife, we have a house together but no kids. She pissed off to oz last year. I was left to pay all the bills, joint loans and stuff for the house, it's left me skint. Also i have spent around £5000 doing the house up. The reason i did this was because she told me the house was mine cos ive paid all the bills etc and made it possible for her to go to oz. Now the problem is she is home in october and has said she wants money out of the house. where do i stand? do i have to sell up and be homeless just to pay her off? sorry it's long winded it's just it's doing me head in! Thanks for any help.

 

 

Get a lawyer....I'm sure there is something about abandonment in the law somewhere

you should really have got it in writing when she said you could have it.

what you MAY be able to do (and get a solicitor,cos i know jack shit) is give her less than 50% of the house,basicaly she would be entitled to half of everything,any verbal agreement could be classed as only your word against hers,but because you spent xxxx amount on doing up the house,paid all her bills etc you MAY be able to claim that money back from her 50%so she may only be entitled to say 40%
There will be a case against her claim im sure, but i think you should be talking to someone in the know,as i said i know jack shit,

Or keep her sweet, tell her you'll get it all sorted & to give you some time, sell everything take the money out of your account like at £10,000 a week put it in say a relatives account then tell her to go fuck herself, & when questioned say "i was sooooooo depressed i was at the casino like everynight just blowing the money away"! Tell her she can have half of your Job seekers allowance!
