ABS fault on a rover 820

Default ABS fault on a rover 820

moms car has failed the m.o.t on abs light on dash being on, and a garage has quoted her £600 to fix it, saying all is bust


how can you get around this come mot day? remove the bulb in dash?

Not much of a way round it on these cars. If it's going to be more than a couple of hundred quid to sort she'd be best off binning it and replacing it with something else. Rover's aren't worth a fart so there is no point pouring money at it.

Not so long ago sold a Rover 620 Ti on an N plate with 17" Khan RSS rims for just £650.

wire it to the oil switch on the cluster .....not that ive ever done that to help someone out just a suggestion

persoanly I don't see the problem with it being on.

Just means you have 'normal' brakes.

Most people will brace for impact rather than think they can steer round someones rear end.

I came on here to say "wire the light to the oil pressure warning light" but got beaten by 2 other helpful fellas who also have never done such a thing b4.....

i thought as long as the brakes were up to standard on road test or rollers that the abs light doesnt matter in the mot

Common problem with rovers. The ABS ring breaks on the CV joint. Wire brush them to see if this is the case. Not expensive to fix £40 for a new jiont.
