Have you installed itunes etc? when you load up your ipod you should have to enter it's serial number. My advice is uninstall all the software using add remove programs in windows and then reinstall itunes and your ipod software from the cd you got with the nano. Dont plug it into your pc until you're told to do so. hope it works this time

I'd try uninstalling it all again with add/remove programs. I've had some problems with ipods before where even after a few unistalls/reinstalls it still hasnt worked. No real reason for it that i could find but It worked after about the third time.

I had exactly the same problem with my shuffle, then all of a sudden it just reconised it .

Some times the usb port can be a bit dodgy like mine , just make sure the light is still on when its plugged in to the comp

ive just tried again to reinstall the software to no avail...ive tried 3 different usb ports on the front and back of my pc but still nothing. If i reboot the pc with the ipod still plugged in but turned off, when it starts up again it seems to recognise it and comes up with a message on the ipod saying do not disconnect......then it brings up itunes like it should do,then after a min or 2 the message dissapears from the ipod screen and i have no connection again.........WTF is going on...its gonna go in the bin in a minute
