I think 30k+ miles speaks volumes for the SCS stainless 6-stud kit. It's not as if it has had an easy life either . I wouldn't use anything else (because Harvey wouldn't fit anything else ). Basically, it has been a case of fit and forget . I have seen 115°C water temps as well (on track) .

Karl insisted on using genuine ford bolts with the bigger washers ..... I know he's not a lover of ARP stud kits, but i'll leave it to him to give his reasons. Don't want to give the wrong reasons....

Well i have Mikes old block with the SCS 6 stainless stud kit...and everyone has told me to aviod the shiny ones I had to phone Mike up ages ago re this and he put my mind at rest they were all talking bollocks If Harvey will only use em them who am i to listen to others?

Me and Karl will never agree on the old long stud versus std stud issue...or the arp one I have used std bolts with big washers and it cracked my block from a T4 and 32psi (real tears!)...i have used ARP upto stage 3 peaking at 2bar no probs.....For 500bhp as current would only minimum use 6 long stud be it SCS or Mountune!
