Only if you seriously exceed the manufacturers recommended towing limit.

Cars don't have GTW as such.

Recommended that trailer/ caravan does exceed the weight of the car.

Caravan doesn't weigh anywhere near a car transporter trailer with car on, unless you fill it up with a lot of gear.

Have you seen them when they shovel them up off the motorway, it all fits into a small skip

might not be over weight but iirc after 96 u can only tow 750kg on your licence no matter what you are driving. I have a class C licence and can still only tow 750. U now need B+E for a car or C+E(hgv).

Mine lets me tow up to 750KG or ANY single-axle trailer, or any vehicle from 3.5 to 7.5 tonne maximum Authorised Mass. (Anyone know if that is GVW or Train Weight?)

Don't know if you get single-axle trailers over 750KG, but people with more recent licences don't even get these rights.

Would I be right in saying that I dont have a proper licence to be towing a twin axle car transporter with a car on it even if im using a land-rover or something that is plated high enough for the weights ? Passed my test in Aug 98.

If so what test do I need to take ?

B+E. its B whish is a car licence +E which is trailoring towing catagory. this will hen give you the same rights as a grandfather licence. Or do HGV C+E thus removing all restrictions
