Default need some HELP on either GREYS or LIGHT BLUES

right im not going to beat around the bush (much) lol

What do you guys think in your mind would be better for me? GREYS OR LIGHT BLUES? I want to run about 370-390bhp ideally

But please looking for advice

Engine spec:

205 block / 7.8 comp ratio / ARP mains , stud nut kit etc / cometic multilayer gasket / BD10 inlet standard exhaust / 26mm ported head / verniers/ all relivent coolers, breathers / T34 .63 / etc

so you get the idea of spec?

thanks i will await some response

Greys for sure with a NMS off the shelf map (Obviously get fuel pressure checked and look at condition of wiring especially to the pump...oh and put a Grp A pump in!

Matt,

All depends on whether you are going to have the car live mapped by, say Stu or go for a generic off the shelf chip.

The of the shelf chip will limit your choice of injectors to prob the bosch items (unless an MSD chip for the injectors he sells) where as a live map will allow you to use a much wider range if injectors such as the more modern siemens items.

What sort of power are you aiming for?

Good power for blues, very good in fact, but the injector is on its knees, thus giving a good reason to fit larger from the offset where possible.

Stu...of course..... ..I will freely say i dont sell as many injectors now.....BUT its rediculous going for anything other than Bosch under 440bhp IMO..BOSCH = reliability, avalibility and PROVEN...plus many maps out there.....Obviously over 450bhp i would go other means like myself to MSD 1000cc ones and not go to the aggro of 8 bosch injectors...

Just re read your post. Up to 400ish bhp.

I know Siemens do a 60lb (630cc) injector which i reckon would be about right. I would imagine Stu would be able to sort you out with a custom chip for these injectors even if he hasn't used them before by re-scaling his existing chip for that spec.

The question you must always ask though is this:

If i can buy 55, 72 and 83lb injectors for virtually the same price...

Why buy one thats only just adequate?

I don't know, do you ever get to the point with big injectors little engine that you have trouble controlling the really small injector time at idle? I thought injectors had problems opening and closing fast enough and you loose your metering accuracy at such small openings, but this might not be applicable to more modern injectors?

Eg it is the it is whilst opening and closing that the metering is at its least accurate so the higher the percntage of the open time that is spent doing these things the less accurate the fuel metering?

Therefore a smaller injector with longer opening time will give more accurate metering at idle.

Kenny & Stu have just done (or just finishing) my Escos and have installed Blacks, live mapped it and put on ALS.

IIRC the blacks were a lower price than Greys as well - bonus.

The nozzle issues come after around 1000cc with most systems. As you rightly say, if you run into minimum resolution time or control problems and your chosen injector is overkill anyway, you need to drop the nozzle size down to something nearer your max requirements. However, here are some fuel readings from an antique L8 running 83lbph Injectors. (Approx 850cc @ 3bar)

Idle:

At 3500rpm held:

Cruising at 70:

And 90:

As you can see, no resolution problems whatsoever and at 450 bhp with a T4 they are having a bloody Day off as far as duty is concerned.
