Default whats wrong with my engine ???

the cars misfiring on boost again

running 071c spark plugs and i have to change them every two months, it has to be the plugs because when you change them all is well again

but why is it doing it ?

i know the engine is running a bit rich but surely that wouldnt wear the plugs out ?

like i say 071c plugs gapped at .6 or .65 its one of them

any ideas guys ?

The plugs are fine mate...im using the same ones

It could be anything with these money pits.....leads, hair line crack in the dizzy, phase sensor, map sensor. Just change everything and it will be fixed

I may have a few odd black beru leads knocking about if you want to try them.

longer than that stu, the prob with it running rich has been there since you set the stg 3 up due to me not booking it back in with you,

if i knew it was deffo the cam timing that was making it run rich in the mid range i would get some pulleys to sort it,

im cuious tho, if it isnt the plugs causing the prob wouldnt it be doin it all the time ? ie you change them and its fina again for another month, two months lol

If its running rich its probably fouling the plugs.

Just get it booked into stu and setup properly.

Other than above:
Electrical issue's with the plugs are caused by the rotor or coil. Try changing them if you fancy a stab in the dark

Also, it could be the caps on the plugs vibrating loose causing the issue. You then put new ones in and tighten the caps by fingers - two months later they vibrate loose and back to square on. You need to do them up with mole grips and a spanner .

Good point... something we all do by habit, but overlook the fact that Joseph Bloggs may not realise.
