Default Excessive brake pedal travel on a S2

I have replaced the brake fluid with dot 4, the master cylinder is fairly new and have taken out any air from the system using easi bleed but the brakes still dont feel right.

The car has ST170 brakes up front and standard drums on the rear. The abs has also been removed.

Any thoughts?

Cheers
Bobby

its not bled properly. S2's are a nightmare to do. U have to have the rear wheels with weight on them to open the valves properly.

engine running helps.

The car needs to be level and the back wheels either up in the arches so its on the ground or on ramps OR you get a 2nd person to hold the compensator valves open.

Hope this helps.

Hopefully the Master Cylinder isn't buggered.

I'll try bleeding them again without the easi bleed and just do it manual.
About 5 years ago ford use to offer a repair kit for the master cylinder anyone know if this is still available?

Thanks for your help guys.

Update: bleed the brakes again last night but not much joy. I found pressing the brakes for the first time does very little but pressing them the second time the brakes are perfect.

Master cylinder faulty?

hey up dave you c*nt

I shall rephrase my reply then "One could try the instalation of a larger diameter master cylinder this will increase the fluid displacment when the brake pedal is applied , or get a biger master cylinder

I had similar issues on my car when fitting the ST170's and removing the ABS, (got rear disc setup too however)

See if any of these thread's help:

No probs, not much help but some of the post's on those threads helped me out. I found it a bit of a nightmare also, but mine seemed to get better over time. It sounds like you are doing it all correctly, I'd keep bleeding the system with the eezibleed if I were you, that worked well for me
