Default Mapping Software - what spec hardware to run?

I've got an OMEX ECU ready to go on my project car and aside from the possibility i might be able to blag Motec on the cheap - what sort of spec PC/Laptop/Hardware do i need to map it...

This isn't as daft a question as it sounds

Motec will run on most decent laptops, mine is on an average spec Toshi thing it`s about 2 gig processor speed...

You will need the Motec lead also....

ANY laptop with a serial link and a cd drive will do...

they are all faster than the ECU

But ensure it has a serial port if its Serial maped as the USB - Srial adapters are FAR too slow and just dont work properly IME.

get a laptop with a nice big chunky keyboard imho, as trying to use a touchpad whilst mapping can be... erm... fun

Its getting built as a self contained unit - i.e car PC with a display on screen so i can keep an eye on it and tweak if appropriate (i.e if it feels a little sluggish - quick glance to see roughly what load/speed site)
