Default Help needed !!! Escort S2 RST braking problem...

Hi guys,

I have this huge problem...my brakes do not work properly...

I have removed the ABS mastercylinder and changed it to a standard MK4 escort mastercylinder. I have also changed the brake pipes (dont know the english word for it ) from RST to standard ones.

Is it possible to do this anyway ?

The problem is that I can build up pressure when I hit the brake a couple of times, but when I start the engine and the brake booster kicks in the brake paddle will drop to the bottom (normal) but it isnt possible anymore to build up pressure when hitting the brake a thousand times...

What can be the problem ? some sort of air leakage ?

Did you bleed them properly?

I think so...I have used a pump with a meter which I pressured up to 2 bars and them opend just 1 brake nipple...I must say the brake fluid didnt came out rapidly...just a minor drain. I have tested this with all the 4 brake lines..all the same result.

Sounds like either a air leak in the master cylinder OR the brakes not been bled properly and still air in the brake pipes.

With the RST it helps if you can add some weight into the boot to fully open the rear bias valve to help get all the air out of the brake pipes

yes ABS was removed and the master cylinder was changed.
I have been bleeding all the braking lines and all of them bled slowly...the oil wasnt coming out easily even with a handpump at 2 bars or when I just was hitting the brake a thousand times...

when you did the rears did you have the wheels on the ground?? if they arent on the ground with weight on them they wont bleed correctly due to the load apportioning valve

the wheel was not on the ground, but a friend of mine who helped was pressing the apportioning valve with a screwdriver so it was entirely pressed in.

i did not tell you that i have fitted ST170 capilars, but i dont think this has anything todo with the problem right ?
