Remember when you could rent or buy from them? Man they were nationwide, what happened to them?

We don't have a massive widescreen....

they gave there staff too many good deals aswell as never had a REAL stock taking system,,,,,,,,,, basically the staff won prizes for selling who where honest and the not so honest ones where selling stuff and getting prizes of there own

one of my old managers was manager there back in 1990 i think it was,,,, or around then

there was a prize for the manager than had the busiest store won a BRAND NEW E30 bmw 318i,,,,,,,,,,, he said he worked his arse off selling door to door and discounting shite BIG STYLE and he actually won the car

he was 23 and living in a 3 bed detached house in buckhurst hill with a a old school 6 series BMW that he owned ( back then it was a newish car btw ) and a 318i bmw as a comuting vehicle

2 years later they went skint and he became a manager of radio rentals and then when they went bankrupt he went to tandy ( could be the other way though)

then he worked for some PC company that went skint that was part of radio rentals or some other firm

hes CV was impressive as he had real god positions, area manager ect for places

BUT EVERYPLACE HE WORKED AT WENT SKINT , so you can understand we LOVED the idea of him as our new boss

btw does this mean im the only one with no widescreen TV then

Yup we have got one, a 32" screen, but it's deffo on it's way out. Picture is shite and for the remote to work, you have to put it about an inch away from the infra-red thingy on the set.

We've just bought a 32" HD LCD and I don't really like it as our other WS tele packed in within 2 years We were going to get a 50" one but couldn't find anywhere to put it, maybe when the lizard dies as his 4 ft tank takes up a huge part of the living room.

Still have my Sony Trinitron tele I bought about 10 years ago in my room and it's never failed me yet.

We still have a Sony 28" Trinitron thing in the family, I remember it from being a toddler, even have pictures of me in a pushchair with that tv in the background! My dad finally replaced it a couple of years ago with a widescreen jobby, so I used it through uni until I got a 32" LCD when I graduated and now my sister still uses it in her lounge! Still works like new except the speakers have shown their age a bit if you turn it up!

Even the remote is made of metal, none of them mdoern plastic jobbies

We do have a widescreen TV in the lounge - it's only a 28" normal CRT screen, as since my old dear paid for it she didn't want anything too big n bulky.... In the other room we still have a normal 4:3 (21" I think) TV, and my TV in my room is normal 4:3 (24")

TBH tho, I pretty much wouldn't bother with 4:3 anymore as virtually everything is geard for 16:9 - all your freeview channels transmit in 16:9, and those that show a pic in 4:3 are still transmitting in 16:9, just they add the black side bits... DUnno bout Sky, never had it, pressume it is the same tho... Virtually ALL films nowadays come in widescreen too..... Not much point getting a square TV....

canny wait for the HD to come into action its gonna b nuts all the pictures will be more 3d so pepole will look rounded on the telly is goin to b like 5 times better than any telly thats out now... will be good when the blue ray discs cum out aswell they are smaller than a dvd disc but have about three times the space they will look like the umd discs for psps!!
