Default Would this p!ss you off?

Just went outside to get something from the garage and was greeted with the following mess, the chippy said "its only a bit of saw dust", now am I being unreasonable here to be unhappy about this???

After a bit of a row he said he would Jet Wash the car down!!!! I don't Jet Wash my cars ever and do I really want this muppet going anywhere near my paintwork, I think not!!!

Can sawdust knacker your paint or will I be ok just to wash it off with a sponge??

I'd have turned him into sawdust with his own saw!

Inconsiderate tosser!

Can't imagine sawdust can damage paintwork unless it's some strange kind of wood or a synthetic material.

If I were you I'd hose it off carefully before using a sponge.

I dont think sawdust will affect your paint but thats not the point is it, a bit of consideration doesn't cost anything, kick the twat off his ladder

I used to be trades-man and this kind of thing is sometimes un-avoidable.

If it was me I would knocked on the door and explained that I had to work there and would you like to move the car for an hour or two, or either me or you cover it up to keep the dust off.
Being dismissive of it is a bit out of order, the dust won't hurt the car and it'll come off just with your thumb over the end of the hose, but thats no excuse for being a plank about it. Ok it wont hurt it but its just rude to not give a monkeys about other peoples property. He should have apologised straight away.

I had something similar happen when I was working outside (the dust carried alot further than I thought), the owner of the car told me about it and I washed the car myself and it was cleaner than when I first arrived.

Things happen, its how you deal with it that counts. This guy just sounds like and idiot.

Im no expert but you want to avoid touching the saw dust while getting it off. a garden hose at normal pressure should do the job fine without any damage.

definitely house it off gently 1st.

ok so it is un-avoidable sometimes, but there was consideration and he could have knocked and said your car may get a bit covered and gave you the choice!

I covered the back of the back of the cossie when it was likely to get covered in dust from sweeping out my garage near it recently!

"refrained from swearing in the title lol but god they piss me off!

went down tonight, car park absolutely full and most of the overflow too.
get in and all the lockers are gone.

wander into the gym and its absolutely heaving, doors are open to get the heat out from the sheers number of people in there!

now i wouldnt mind if these people:

a) knew what they were doing
b) actually put some effort in
c) were likely to last longer than a month

does my head in it really does, every year its the same! fat people come in, do fuck all, get pissed off and dont come back. gets to christmas and they do it all over again

didnt recognise one person in there outta em all., prob. wont see em again either

rant over, food time"

pmsl that's a for Ballin

However, I do agree with him - in this case (sawdust and not brick dust etc) as there is no way it's going to harm the car, I wouldn't stress too much. If it had rained again, you would probably have never know.

He might have thought you would be just as pissed about him knocking on the door and asking you to move it...

As above, hose pipe will fix it.

Hose off gently to get the worst off, then wash thoroughly with a clean sponge.

Oh, and for the record if some wanker did that to my car and didn't at least knock before to say 'be some mess mate, maybe best to move the car' I'd kill the bastard.

Jealous if you ask me, he must of known all that sh1t was going over the motor and thought sod it, i'll carry on. What an ass.

As above mate, don't think any harm done to paintwork, just give it a good hose off before cleaning mate.

Nice little motor by the way

Certainly leave it for the new neighbours to come back and see.

Go round, knock on and explain what's happened.

Basically work on taking his business away, he doesn't deserve any.

a hose pipe WILL get it off, but if it's sat in the guttering of the rain channels it may clog up

had this happen to my car when the builders next door were doing an extension, they were there for weeks and i'd literaly just moved in and was dropping a thermos off for the old man who was doing a bit of a clean up
one of them came out with "i wonder if the tea he's delivering is worth the effort" (i drive a new vito) as i was walking past so as i came back out i asked for the guy in charge

he came over all cocky and full of himself until i asked him why he'd cut a hole in my gate without my permission, he was like "um, err"
"so how are you going to repair my gates?"
"um err"
so i'll send you the bill yes?"
"um err"
"and while your at it, you can make sure my car doesn't get dirty, because if it does, i'll be sending you the bill for that every day too"
"sorry, sorry, grovel, grovel"

I think you're justified in being p'd off Andy - as said the guy's just got no manners/respect, and whilst relatively harmless, as someone pointed out - clogged drainage holes is an unnatractive possibility. Have you got access to an air line to blow most of it off first?

Go out, get plastered and puke in his bonnet air intake vents that supply the interior ventilation (happened to a mate's car - he had to get rid in the end )

i'll make u feel better mate.

our neighbours are havin building work and a load of dust had been blowing over and covered my car which i must add is panther black. i had only washed and polished it a couple days b4, and not used it much since so i assumed just a bucket of water and a sponge over and leather it and all would be fine. how wrong was i. i went back out later and found my paint had a mass of fine scratches and was lookin quite matt like. wish i had hosed it down and used shampoo on it. to make matters worse its a cabriolet and u can imagine the roof isnt easy to clean bein mohair. the dust had all sunk into it. nightmare!!!
