Default zetec engine tech question?

do late zetec (black top) engine pistons/rods fit early (silver top) motors?

planning on using ST170 stuff in my early bottom end but dont want the hastle of trying to fit the later crap block into my mk3 escort.

cheers

cheers Dude,
got ST170 pistons/rods now, and robbed the exhaust cam aswell

James, later blocks use different waterpump setup and where it bolts on the block the hole is about 1.5inch and in my eyes is a load of hastle trying to "retro" fit this engine when early blocks with escort bolt on bits are a straight forward fit with water hoses etc.

regards Sean

ST170 pistons/rods will raise compression and are forged rods/mahle pistons.

early block is already in the car so i`ll whip the head/sump off to fit pistons/rods/shells.

3i`s dont have "management" as such, as they run a distributor for the ignition but have a sort of management for injection which is bi-metal strip heat related for the fuel regulation, very primative and useless!

i`m currently useing porsche/merc injectors and a very modified volvo metering head/pressure regulator setup.

when engine is specced with high comp stuff it will be on dellorto 45`s choked/jetted to my spec (currently at a specialist being balanced on a manifold)

then the whole lot will be setup on a rolling road hopefully with aftermarket management!
