235 Tyres Dont go on a 3 door (updated)
Well im building a Track Beast and wanted Tyres that had LOTS of grip.
The wheels i bought came with 235 tyres, and since im known for making things fit, thought id give it ago.
The arch's etc are already trimmed as the car is very low and was on 215 tyres on Escos rims.
After a few Hours work, I got the 235's on but they rub a wee bit, im not beat yet and will try again.
They looked ACE and really wide.

The offset and profiles are the main problems
I used to have 235/40/17's on one of my 3 doors and the plastic arches only needed a minor trim

What width will go straight onto a 88 2WD Sapphire thanks chaps?.
I'm wanting to keep my original rims, but I'd like to go for something slightly fatter than the 205x50x15.
Will 215s oe 225s fit on with out any rubbing or problems?
Cheers

215's will be fine and about the widest that will squeeze onto the standard rims anyway!

My offset is 40, its just my car is daft low at the rear due to some Chav putting if shite springs.
Im pretty sure as soon as i put in other springs it will be ok as it has Koni shocks aswell

Well i fitted new rear springs and got handy with my Hammer/Grinder, Rears are now on with NO RUBBING
BUT
The front are hitting the cup that the spring sits in big time.
Looks like ill have to try 215/40/on the front as never in a million years will 235/45 go on without coilovers.
I am fitting coilovers but not for a while yet so want them fitting now.
Cheers to RsToughy for the springs
