depends on the power the cars making.
its all about the lesser of two evils really restriction Vs heatsoak.
The snandard box is good for around 450 brake i have heard
Heatsoak will be less of an issuse on track but may take a lap or so to get the ambient temps in the bay down 1st.

I know its not a big power track car I own, but this is how Ive set my cone filter up with cold air feed under it with a heat sheild.

Thing is people box in big cone filters, and then the box resticts the airflow, making them pointless.
I still dont believe on the road while moving at speed the heat buildup is that great TBH, but some decent venting is a good call.
Unrestrictivness counts over positioning in my book TBH.
