Anyone here ever regret selling their car ??....
I certainly do.
I sold my cossie recently to someone who uses this site and all I'm reading lately is how this person is gradually destroying it bit by bit.
The car I used to own ( Esc. cos ) was something I worked bl**dy hard to get and always bought the best things for it.
Now that it's gone I've had texts from the bloke telling me it's this and that and how when he floors it ( thrashes it by my understanding ) it does'nt do what he wants.
Now I read it's got bent compressor blades, how the hell that happened is beyond me but it really p!$$es me off to know the car was in much better order than it is now !!.
I know once a car's gone you should forget about it but it never let me down and I hate being accused of selling a duff motor.
So has anyone else out there ever felt the same and just wished you could turn back the clock and keep what you proudly displayed ?.
Cheer's.

I sold my Pug 309GTi to some local idiot - he managed to spin it on the bend outside the ex's house and then rolled it about 4 weeks later.
Ok, it wasn't mine anymore but totally get where you're coming from - it's a respect for your own property thing!

I did this too. Sold my beloved number 1 RS Turbo, and then watched as the lad destroyed it. It LITERALLY brought tears to my eyes when I saw it ouside his house 7 months later, no shine, broken windows, fucked engine and box..... Covered in birdshit.

The price I got did'nt really reflect the spec. or the ammount of graft that went into it, but then it never does.
But needless to say I was pleased to get what I did, but the week before letting it go I was having serious doubts as to whether or not to let it go.
In the end obviously I did but I knew this person was going to trash it and it expect to do wonderful things just because its a cosworth.
As far as I was concerned it was quick enough for me and I never felt a need to push it to the max. as there was nothing to prove to other motorists as they respected you for what the car was so did'nt try it on.
It is just gutting to think certain cars SHOULD be treated with respect and not abused and expected to last.
There's nothing I can do about it now but I do have visions of it being wrapped around a lampost sometime soon.

When I sold my S2 a couple of weeks ago, i made a list of ALL the things the car uses, then stuck it to the glovebox
IE...
the correct oil + service intervals
correct plugs for spec
Super unleaded ONLY
Tuners to use + numbers to phone for advice etc...
+ a few more bits and bats.
If they are not stuck to, the car will die soon IMO.
Probably see it on the trader next week for a grand fooked
Oh well, im well chuffed with me Audi so fook it

Regret selling my blue mk1 Escort, caged, tax exempt, genuine head turner, great looking car.
Took it to some chav c*nt (proper garage) to fix the brakes & ended up coming out of his place with no brakes whatsoever, useless fat ba$tard!
Ended up selling it without MOT or brakes for £800!

I had a mint, black Mk I MR2 which had TSW 7x 15 Evos (when 15" was big ), Sebring twin exit exhaust, K&N panel, raised compression, Spax & Konis and it was fantastic. Revved to nearly 8k (4AGE engine) and had 102bhp at wheels (not silly power, but enough). Had it sitting at 7700rpm (an indicated 145mph) chasing a 944 down the M11 - those were the days .

Had a top FRST in black, loved it and still do, sold it and never saw it again
Got an S1 and thinking of selling it, spent £3000 since last May improving on it and will surely be gutted when it goes, but fancy a change so it onto the next.

Had a really nice S1 before my saff. Sold it WAY back in '95,within an hour of the Autotrader coming out! For £2800. 60k,FFSH etc etc. Living with parents at the time and could SOOO have afforded to keep it and still get the saff, why didn't I??

I really regret getting rid of my 4x4 racing sapphire as I had totally rebuilt it and the guy was supposed to be keeping as a track car, but sold it on after a week saying he couldn't afford the insurance. What a tosser
Still wish I had that as it went like stink and turned a few heads aswell

Just seen this link, The person who bought this car is ME right so lets put some things straight
1. I DONT thrash it, Its just that when some one has had performance parts fitted to the engine and claims its 300bhp plus why cant i punch it once in a while to see how it goes? So the boost limiter cuts in when i do it (now sorted) It was over boosting not at 24 psi which you said it was but over 30psi so with it doing that it has bent the blades in the turbo according to engine advantages. I drove it hard ish just after i bought it from you to see how it goes and it cuts out. I got it rr and it was 260bhp so i had to buy another chip to get it to the bhp i wanted which is why i bought it in the first place as i thought it already had this power.
2. It wont get rapped around a tree or any thing as i hardly drive it and when i do i respect it for what it is.
3. I text you just to let you know about these things, you turned it into a slagging match about me not driving it right. Should have not bothered. I was not blaming you in any way. I was just curious as to why the engine has been re built but it taps thats all. If like you say the company used your old cams maybe it is because they are worn and making this noise??

Not to rub salt in the wounds but i sold my Saph late last year and the guy is really looking after it. It's now running Stg 3 (something i could never afford to do) has a DVD and all that. Plus it's still local.
Personally it's nice to know that the hard work i put in keeping it tidy hasn't gone to waste stright after i sold it.

Yep, my first S2. Was 18 /19 at the time so insurance was shite. only owned it a few months, paid £1800 for it, G reg, 90spec, mint all round, probs bout 70k ish IIRC only 4 odd owners, well looked after etc Sold it in the end for £2800 so I made a bit on it and deservadly so, it was mint and worth that anyway Then my last one was a shitter and lost money on it, oh well. all good again now

I sold two XR4x4's and ended up with a parking ticket and a note from a recovery company saying my car was in their depot after it had been used in a bank job... But I don't regret selling them.
Never regretted selling any car, except a TVR chimaera and a BMW850Csi.
The TVR cos it was soo quick, a challenge to drive fast and had the best engine sound ever.
The 850Csi cos it was such a rare car, I'd love to have it still.
Just couldn't afford to keep either in the end, but I can't imagine selling the Cossie any time soon.

Still a bit pissed off so round 2
Mark What is the use of buying a esc cosworth if you dont drive it hard from time to time? You might as well buy a esc 1.3 LX or something. The cosworth can take a bit of abuse thats what its designed for.
You say you never drove it hard well then whats the point in getting one in the first place? You might as well got a body kitted esc just to look good in.
I bought the car for a few reasons 1. Because it looks the bollocks 2. it was meant to be 300 bhp+ 3. Because i wanted to eventually do some 1/4 mile and 0-60 days and wanted to set some good times.
It doesnt matter if you have 100bhp or 1000bhp if when you put your foot down the boost limiter cuts in at 3000rpm you can not drive it. You were driving it like this since it was re built did you not realise????

lets put the record straight here ;
1. The car in question was tested by BSW motorsport who ( with me present ) confirmed it was peaking at 26 psi and holding 23 psi IN MY OWNERSHIP.
2. Yes if I wanted to drive harder I did and I think you will confirm ( if honest enough ) that when I took you out in it I said then I don't drive it to it's full potential as what it had was enough for me, hence the boost limit problem never arose and was not an issue, and to say I was responsible for the knackered turbo is quite honestly a joke ( especially seeing as BSW had checked it 2 months previous ).
3. Don't be a patronizing little twerp and tell me what I should have bought, I bought the cossie because it was what I wanted and the best I had seen at the time ( like you did !! ) and had it because I could look back and say this is what I had, this is what I did, not this is what I thrashed and this is what I killed
4. Again if your honest enough you will confirm that when you looked at the car I told you then, it is supposed to be 300 + bhp but I cannot verify, therefore I did not lie !.
5. You also seem to forget that I work for Ford Mo Co and therefore am in a very good position to judge what a car can handle as per it's spec.
You say the car is built to handle whatever you may throw at it ( BULL$h!T) at the end of the day it was basically in mild tune and will only take so much before things are going to let go.
6. I never wanted to get into a slanging match with you but the fact is YOU accused me of selling a duff motor which is something I have never done by rattling off in your text that I must have known it had problems and warmed it up before you see it, blah, blah, blah.
I did all the checks from cold when I bought it so I gave you the benefit of the doubt and left it cold for you also to hear it at it's possible worst.
At the end of the day I should have just ignored your text and got on with things but unfortunately I have never had negative feedback like this and am totally p!$sed off to be told I have effectively sold a lemon !
But there is nothing I can put right now, it's your car do what you will, but please don't put the blame on my door ( you may not have mean't too but your message read otherwise )
So therefore I shall leave it at that and hope you take what I've said onboard.
Meanwhile I shall drive my new quite powerful BMW around for the time being awaiting the hopeful Fiesta RS. ( perhaps I'll trade that in and save on grief )
Cheers.
