Yes mate.
I was nicely parked inside

Wanted to ask you about your S.E.C.S monitor anyway...
I saw you installed it where the clock used to be.
Can you buy those "plates" where you put the monitor in or did you make that yourself?

Installed all the stage 3 goodies and raised to boostlevel to 21.7Psi held.

Back on the rollers...

Surprising result... In stead of the "normal" 330BHP, it just went up to 285.5BHP@4524 rpm but the torque however raised to 361.1lbft@3678 rpm.

After 4524rpm turboboost drops really fast...

Now Paul thinks it might be the turbo so he's gonna rebuilt it.
I hope the problem is fixed then...

Must say Paul is a top bloke

I'll scan in the results tomorrow, 'coz I'm just to tired at the moment
you dont need a rebuild.. only a different exhaust housing..
its too small to have power at high rpm .. but gives you boost at 2000 rpm.. thats all you need to do!

if you still have the same exhaust housing on it that it ofcourse

Jo, thanks for the pic!

I have just spoken to Paul, my car made 308bhp & 312torque, so im happy

SECS monitor, I made the plate myself although its looking a bit "rough" now as its been in and out a few times.
Did you also notice were I installed the clock?

What do the cut back blades do then, I won't pretend that I am in the know as I'm not.

The turbo isn't laggy at all , but do tell me what part the cut back blades do play then?

Gavin E-Cos,
I know what the 'problem' was now.
Just have to replace the 0.48 exhaust housing by a 0.63 one and it should be fine.
Still will have to go back for another dyno run then

Mine has the .63 housing on, and I was thinking of changing it for the smaller .48 one, but im not sure I should now!

Maybe I will go for a .55 one.

woulda thought even a .48 would make more than 280bhp?

as for cut back blades, i was under the impression they were there as a safety precaution incase the blades touched the housing when pushed beyond the turbos limits...

however its quite possible that thats pub talk bollocks as i cant rememebr where the hell i heard that said...

oh dear...

do a search back for someone being ridiculed for saying that.

AFAIK it's to reduce back pressure is it not?

then again *I* could be wrong...

i made 348 with std comd and .63 & 21 psi

mate had low comp .48 and ,made 345 at 24psi

on the same day

stretch on this board is today have his mapped live and has low comp head work and .55 housing and loads of boost, and is hopoing for 380-400

mapping head work makes all the difference

Mine is still standard comp, so i guess i'll just have the turbo rebuilt and a 0.63 housing put on

Cliff, the cut back on the blades is basically to slow the turbine down a touch, to prevent overspeeding & other issues.....

IMO, .48 housing on the back of an EsCos turbo is fine for stage 3 - certainly wouldn't restrict you to below 300bhp.......

torque seems impossibly high for a std engine (i mean head/cams/comp) with a t3 turbo, let alone it making it at that boost

i thought cut backs are to decrease back pressure and reduce the associated heat, fook knows, mine (exact same minus the gay bits he has lol has same engine/turbo as stretch's) has a 7 degree cut back ex wheel anyway LOL

bill, my cars is hardly laggy

Matt, I'm sure it isn't

My point was that cut back on the turbine blades isn't there to reduce lag.....my original reply was a quick reply and maybe too cryptic....I also think you're probably correct about the back pressure too (overspeeding the turbo will I think increase back pressure?), but my memory is sh!te at the moment.

Except for the 4 layer head gasket engine is indeed standard...
I didn't mess with the resultfigures... You can ask Speedy G, 'coz he was there with me or Paul himself

My T34 0.48 is set to 24,5-25,0psi and this it holds up to 5500rpm.
At 5800 its 24psi and at 6400 its tailed off to 23 psi.

Yes risht side air vent, although I dont think I have copied anyone.
I had one of the first if not the very first Escort Cosworth SECS monitors. So early infact that Simon had not finished the software and my first one wasnt set up for a 2.5 bar MAP sensor!

I can confirm about Gavin's monitor, cos he and I had one about the same time.

That was many moons ago now!

Thanks Richard.

Im not sure I should thank Mike for his "bumpkin" comments

Dave, we both may have done the same thing at the same time, but I know I had one of, if not the first one for Escort Cosworth and changed the location as soon as I had it.
As I said my install is not looking its best now. I want to make up something new but havnt the time at the moment.

If youve got any pics I would like to see them.

Jo, had a look at the dynosheet, (didnt before)
but have to say.. the boostcurve looks bad.. cant possibly be only the exhaust housing when I look at the curve.
it should boost up to 5300 then slightly drop a bit , not the way yours looks thats dropping after 3750 rpm...
so maybe a rebuild
