Default Rotting 80 spec erst's?????

sold my d-reg erst series 2. im devastated, now its gone im gagging for another.

but ive been advised away from another D-reg and also E-reg series 2's as FORD went on strike leaving the shells outside, when the strike was over they built the cars without treating the shells.....hence why 80 specs rot.

is this true?? i cant find any info on this.

Its pushing me more towards the S1

sounds like an old wives tail

they did use cheaper metal on the earlier ones though

there are good ones out there, you just have to pay for them

F plates onwards are OK mate, but again finding a good one these days can be difficult. As long as you go for an '89 onwards you'll avoid the early problems that plagued S2 shells.

the old tale i heard about d reg fords was the was a strike on and a certain chemical couldnt be added which made the metal prone to rotting.and i always was told if you seen a clean d reg it was probably a ringer!!

They all rot if not looked after end of, buy a S1 as I'd rather have a rotten S1 than S2

better yes but the rot be deeper for sure
Funny that cos when I took mine to the bodyshop to have it's full resto. They complemented mine on how it was in such good condition.

I think he said something along the lines of "Bloody hell I've seen loads of S2's a hell of alot worse than this"

To which my reply was " Nah I've never liked the shape of the S2"

They all the rot the same!!!! Its an old wives tail.......my D plater is absolutely mint and has never been welded [apart from the cage ]

I've seen 91 RST's with no floors/arches/bulkhead etc...etc....it all depends how well they have been looked after!
