if i ordered 799.98 USD worth of pushbike from the states would i get stung for import tax on arrival?

Something like that i would say yes ive bought loads little things and have got away with it but got a car alarm from there and got stung £45

arse i was about to order and noticed no sales tax on the form.

how much was the alarm in relation to the tax?

Ask them to mark it as a lower value and to mark it as a gift aswell. You might away with it.

Alarm was about £100 was still a bargain to what price it was over here
its worth asking them to put it as a gift???

I think that duty on sporting goods is 20% *if* they catch you. Bit of a risk IMO.

I hear that marking items up as "Warranty Replacement" works like. Might be worth a punt

I got stung couple weeks back

£100 diff mount,charged me nearly £20 import tax and handling charge

i got stung today £120 set of bmx cranks from usa and customs wanted £27 and ive got other items arriving soon best bet is to ask them to put gift or a lower price on it

not really worth it mate - and they wont help you either as its illegal for them to falsify invoices

& if by any chance they are dodgy enough to mark it cheaper than it is, insurance will become invalid etc
