they are great fun, better for thrashing than an ERST.
you can smack it's head in all day every day and they'll keep coming back for more.
rust is a problem, you would benefit from seam welding the engine bay.
Corsas are better though.

just buy that and you could be opn a track at the week end......

10K+ Poster!!
right depends which way u want to go about it
Main things you need and prices for them are
Engine,box wiring etc.. Ł300 ish
Driveshafts (cheap option) Ł100
Engine mounts Ł40
Suitable exhaust Ł160 for Ashley
The car will need to have a injection fuel system or you will need to fit a injection tank and pump.
Tbh 16v brakes will do most people and these can be brought from about Ł30 upwards
Suspension wise I would always say to go for coilovers as they just make the car atleast handle which is something it wont do on lowering springs.
Only bits that would need welding is the exhuast manifold to suit whatever system you have fitted, a recess needs making for the alternator and the bay SHOULD be stitch welded or it WILL pull itself apart soon enough
I'm breaking mine so may have some bits to help you
Hope that is come help

They are good fun little cars, but finding a decent shell is getting harder these days and most of the redtop engiens are getting a bit long in the tooth too.
Conversion isnt very difficult if you are handy with a spanner, but does require some welding, thats about the only thing that people tend to need a hand with.

Ive helped build a few, quite an easy conversion if your sort of mechanicaly minded, good mate of mine sells the o/s front engine mount to bolt an xe straight into a nova engine bay and the spacer plate for the gearbox and a disk that goes through the converion step by step inc how to wire it all up for about Ł50, he is currently running a let in a nova saloon that he has just put a t34 on external waistgate etc i can give you contact details for him if you would like?, they are great fun nova valvers and quick enough to embarass some supposed 'quick' cars, a nova with an 8 valve engine looks odd to me now lol

converion wiring is pretty easy iirc
you can either get somethign like the M-Tech conversion kit (expensive, but all there ), avalible from LMF vauxhall
or get someone like Lee Mitchell off Corsasport to make the mounts
if its liks the corsa, you can use GSI shafts with cav inner cv's to go into the xe gear box
also n the nova i think you have to mod the o/s wing to clear the alternator, either by box sectioning it, or as ive seen before "persuaded" with a sledge hammer
alot off people have seem welded the engine bays on novas, or use a M-TECH/Harry hockley streghtning kit
wiht the corsa it doesnt seem to matter as much as they are the little bit stronger, and corsa's are genrally easier to find n less rusty condition
im sure chip/others will correct any mistakes

Had one of both, much preferred the Nova, felt a lot quicker, possibly cos I think the car is a fair bit lighter. I got rid of the Corsa, which was an S plate, to keep the Nova.
