Default Bending CDS, is a Mandrel Bender a must!?!?

Planning on knocking up a rollcage out of 50mm CDS ..... I've got one of these already knocking about vvvvvv

I've not tried it out yet as I haven't got the CDS, I'm slightly worried that the tube bender might just kink the tube

Anyone used a one of those to rustle up a cage or have you all used the mandrel benders (which I really cant afford )

any info will be brilliant

Might work on normal tube, but one of these is probably nearer the mark -

cant stretch to one of those atm

The more I read on various fabrication forums they all say the type of bender I've got will just kink and flatten the CDS, ah cr*p

Was hoping someone had made there own cage with the type of bender I've got.....

If you measure the angles you need and mark the bend point I can bend them for £15 per bend.

Anyone else tried bending CDS with a plain old tube bender?

I'd forget that if I were you....

Unless as said, use loads of sand and plenty of heat if you want to give it a go, but dont expect perfection (which is what you need if its going to be on a stress point).

Get the bends done elsewhere (as Danny has offered ) then do the rest of the work yourself if you feel happy enough

Ive not done that much pipe bending but that back tool on the second bender shown does keep the kinking down as it holds it in shape. however if i was planning on doing a nice shiny one id be tempted to buy in preformed bends and tig weld it all togetehr then have it polished as this looks minty mint far better than the kinked look lol
Have heard the fill with sand thing before but never seen it done so cant comment on that
