Default Tool box restoration project

My tool box has got a little worse for wear being in my van. So have put a set of draws in the van.*

The tool box will be used in the garage for now on.

Wasn't looking the best.

Removed stickers, handles, lock and badges......and then removed all the rust, a lot more than I thought.*

Then, filled badge holes, etch primered the bare metal, and filler primered the bare metal parts.

Next, I'll sand it down to blend it in, and primer the hole box and draw fronts.

I need to do mine too, but not worth it while it still lives on the van. If/when it retires to a life in the shed, I'd like to sand it back and repaint the whole thing

Yeah, I wouldn't be doing it if it was going back in the van, got a 7 drawer roller cabinet in there now.

I'm not sure if Snap On paint of powder coat their tool boxes though, so it could be a BASTARD to sand it back!

Not sure, mines a sealy pro box.......and paint is poor. I just keyed mine, should be ok. Used the rust remover attachment on my drill for rust, made light work of it and doesn't damage the metal.

New foam liner arrived.

Sanded down filler, primered and sanded and primered drawers. Ready for a quick flat before paint.

Dents in the draws are to hold chrome trim on.......I'll have to polish them up too.

Decided to do the draw trims with some truck bed liner paint I had. Love the finish of this stuff.

Painted a black base coat on the box, then a couple of coats of alloy wheel silver, and just a light coating on lacquer......as I wanted a industrial sort of look. Came out ok, I think lol.

Got some stickers to go on yet when the paint has hardened.*

Think it looks better that colour scheme than all black. Nice work!

Looks awesome mate nice finish. I've got an old snap on top box in the garage propping some other boxes up I might pull it out and give that a refurb.

Cheers mate, I'm quite happy with the finish......didn't want anything too shiney and new looking.

Make sure you get some pics if you do.
