Bit of a snag, the trusses are wrong !!!!!!!!!
Pleased they measured them not me. Anyhow another getting delivered on Monday. I asked when they are collecting these ones and he said they are no use for anything else and to cut them up !!!!!! So nearly 2 grands worth of trusses scrapped at their cost.
If anyone is building a 6mx6m double garage then they are ideal for you. Just going to split them apart this weekend and put to one side. There's over 200m of 8x2 tanalized good timber.
Could maybe build a decent garden shed with it, there's going to be 100+ spare roof tiles as I had to order full pallets.
Any one got any good ideas for the timber, they will make some good shelving if nothing else.

Little update.
New trusses arrived Friday, got a couple up to make sure they are correct this time. They were so made a start setting them out so we could start building up the gable end.

I had the gas meter moved this week also. Got rid of all existing gas pipes out of the old garage as well. Fitted the new composite door to the old garage to let some more light in there now.

I never set any kind of time scale or budget to do the project, and people have said why didn't you get people in to do it, would have been done ages ago. Its been going now for 17 weeks and ive thoroughly enjoyed doing it. From designing it, doing the plans, drawings, groundwork, joinery, roofing, bit of scaffolding, blockwork and other stuff. My mate said realistically how much have you saved doing it yourself, a couple of grand perhaps? I said its nothing to do with money its some thing i wanted to do and get some self satisfaction knowing ive been doing it myself (help from family members)
Im no builder, architect, joiner, roofer but fairly happy with what ive achieved so far.

And that's the right attitude to have mate, if your handy with the tools and have no time scale then why not, and by the looks of things it's all to an excellent standard 👍
I've been in the building/shopfitting trade for the past 33 yrs and have seen some atrocious work in the past. Keep up the good work.

Just a little update, been away on holiday and just got back so decided to concentrate on the back today. Got the fascia and soffit on, put the old garage door on the new garage, and fitted the window. Put 80% mirror tint on the window. Eventually got most of the heras fencing down. Still got the guttering to do as I didn't have a connection piece.

The single is going to be an extension of kitchen, dining room. Also going to put a spiral staircase in there leading up into the new play, cinema room. ( that will be my next project )
silly question maybe, but how have they engineered the strength into the roof to support the weight of the tiles without any metalwork?
or is that what they have been designed to do from the off

They are designed attic trusses, they are made from 8"x2" timber, even the bits the tiles are sitting on.

what door are you going for?
i had a hormann sectional door fitted with the hormann operator as it came with a 5 year guarantee (piece of mind over quality)

I already have the door, got it at Xmas time when there was a sale on.
It's a 14ft 6" (4450mm) novoferm sectional door, 45mm insulated with 6 double glazed rhombus design frosted glass windows in it. White wood grain effect. Electrically operated with additional wireless door operator inside the house with status report open/closed.

I even purchased an aftermarket kit - 1 bit attaches to the door and you have an alarm inside the house but it kept on failing

let me know if its available on the market and if its any good..when you eventually get to try it out!
Nice one mate looks excellent! We're just waiting for planning permission to come through on our new garage build, very interested to read up on this and learn a thing or two!
