I bought Clarke one

http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/pr...m-trolley-jack

Is very good and roller is fine on front. 1 1/4 tonne is plenty if lifting one end at a time, they also do a 2 ton one as well

Brilliant jack though , costs around 180 plus vat and isnt exactly light but with Bluepoint you get what you pay for

If you can roll a can of coke under the car the jack will go under

Fair enough, I've used one for about 4 years now and it's been fine. Guess it's how often you use it though, as I only use it about one a month!

I have the costco one and its cleared every car I've put it under easily.

Yes it's heavy but it is manageable. I'm a skinny sod and I have no problem getting the jack around.

Plus with the weight it feels very sturdy, honestly they are a top buy for the money

Default Jacks makin me mad

I have the Clarke 1.25ton from Machine Mart - not very impressed as the body seems to have twisted slightly just lifting my XR2 race car (lighter than road car)

I also have a Sealey lightweight aluminium 2.5 ton jack - this was bought as I knew after the hassle the Clarke 1.25 ton had lifting the race Fiesta, there was no way it would be used on my Sierra Cosworth. All seemed great for 2 months until the pistons started to leak fluid.

So, I still need a good, light, jack!!

after using the sealey jack at work i paid out for a snap on. the sealey handle only twists in the upright or down position to open or close the valve, can be awkward when you cant get the bloody car down.

Have to agree with the comments on the clarke jacks, cheap shit imo. They twist unless they are on completely flat ground, they dismantle themselves, wheels fall off, we've got 2 and they both look like they've been ran over! Wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Mate you should live where i do , the snap-on mans a mate but even still the book price for then is £230 inc vat . Fcuk knows where the £600 came from .

Good jacks but they arent made for low cars as such . My girlfriends mk6 fiesta is lowered 40mm maybe and that very jack wouldnt get under it . The saddle was plenty low enough but the body stopped it from going under the chassis leg . Which is why i got the super low entry one . Same money , admittedly doesnt look as nice but gets under anything you can roll a can of coke under

the £600 was for the aluminium, yours is the steel one which is why is assume its a bit cheaper

think the costco one may be winning, and i'll get the missus to buy it

Yes mate thats correct mine is the steel one as the alloy one my mate has simply wouldn't go under a mildly lowered car but was still the same money as the one i got . Maybe the £600 one is a lower alloy one to the alloy one pictured ?

Good luck with the costco though anyway mate im sure it will be more than up to the job

I think the clarke ones would be ok as a 2nd jack to use for shows etc but for a jack used all the time or even every now and then i found it to be a bit useless tbh . Went under low cars yeah but creaked and fell to bits after a while

I had the Clarke one and it was rubbish. All the bolts used to fall out then it blew the seal and leaked. 4 friends also had them and their bolts fell out. I've now got the arcan one from Costco aluminium low jack, not as low as their steel one but its much lighter.

That's the one I have. Was around £100 maybe less.
Much bigger and sturdier than the crappy Clarke one machine mart sells.
