Default 2 post lift height

Im thinking about converting an old house into a garage and need to know how high would the pitch on the roof have to be in order to work on a car in comfort on a 2 post lift ?? Im over 6 ft tall, so just wondering what is the combined height of a average car on a lift when its up in the air.
I have to measure up on Saturday but all the internal ceilings will be coming down walls knocked through etc to make one open space.

i can measure mine later but if you take it that at full elevation the underside of the car will be approx 6 ft so add the height of a car (approx 5 foot) so you will need absolute minimum of 11 feet, i put mine to lift right up to the apex of the roof, my roof is 14 foot i think, id be saying minimum of 12 foot and comfortablly 14 foot unless you intend to lift high roof transits and such like

also you will have to have your door opening high enough and this will dictate the roof height alone, i put my door height high enough to back in a high roof transit and also a recovery truck with a car on the back, sometimes i back in and use the lift to take the car off the recovery truck, ideal for cars that arent easily moveable
