workbench
Evening folks,
Anyone got any decent workbench/storage/draws etc in their garage at home or work.
i'm tempted to kit out my garage with some good quality stuff but don't want to spend a fortune. So far iv'e found garagepride.co.uk, good gear but very pricey. Any offers on where else to look, or where did you get yours?
Cheers.

i'll take a few pics of the one we built in mine, just out of 2x2 timber with 18mm MDF top and back, its strong enough for 2 engines plus 2 people sat on it, and ive jus built an extention,
gimme a few days and i'll get them posted.
sorry its took so bloody long, but heres my bench with pics of the side panels and pics of the new bench under construction..
from the front showing the back board which is jus a full sheet of MDF bolted to the back, nice and strong.

this just shows the 2 levels and the 18mm mdf

i put corner pieces on to stop stuff rolling off and it added alot of rigidity to the entire thing too, defo worth doing

and the new one without its top, should be just as strong.

thats MICROSLAT on the back of it too, its alluminium slatwall, perfect for hanging tools, shelves, speakers, etc etc. (yes, thats who i work for if anyone wants a workshop panel quote let me know,
)

i have been thinking about my bench, as its shite.
was thinking of making one from wood, but i will end up burning it. so came to teh conclution that metal will be best, 3 or 4mm steel plate for top and engle iron for legs etc. all bolted to the floor so i can be rough with stuff in the vice

i finished my bench at the weekend, the old one pictured further up didnt really suit the new garage so we did this...and we din't need new wood for the tops, jus used the stuff the old one was made of and turned it upside down, so it looks new but isn't,
hope this gives you some ideas...

you can see on the legs that ive srewed the extension to the existing bench for strength, what you cant see is that ive also secured both benches directly to the garage frame so it doesnt move despite having 28+ stone sat on it to "test" it, ha.
then the top which ive put a 75mm "lip" on to stop bolts, screws etc dropping off the back.

and the other top and tool boxes.

looks far better compared to big berther in my previous posts, haha
