MT75 2wd gearbox mount shot again
Hey there fellas,
so I have this '91 Sierra 2.0i DOHC 2wd that I built (well, a little bit) for a fun rallye over the Balkan countries in 2016 and now use it as a fun car for drifting in wet/snow conditions and on some closed track wet drifting events for fun - great car for that purpose and I've always been strangely attracted by the Sierra and Scorpios (Gran Mk3) anyways lol.
So, in the front I'm using all poly but the rears are still stock and probably half shot (I know that one of the rear beam mounts has rips). I changed the ripped MT75 gearbox mount in May or sth and now, maybe some few thousand kms later, it's ripped again So that's my question here. Is it usual for them to break that easily under some more heavy usage? Does it have something to do with other mounts (engine mounts looked ok) or bushings that suspend the rear movements or the propshaft intermediate bushing?
Thanks for any inputs & greetz from Austria

I think something else could be moving and breaking it, have you got a billet diff hanger on there? Vibratechnics may do a strong gearbox mount.

Interesting, actually I'm using a billet diff mount with poly insert from anembo, yes, just forgot to mention it! How did ya come up with that lol
You said something else could be moving and then mention the diff hanger? I think that should make things better not move/break it, right?
I just installed that part before the last wet drifting event and at some point that day the gbx mount decided to give up

I was asking if you had one, if the answer was NO then I was going to say try one to help reduce the movement.

Ah I guess I got that wrong then, yes I got one now but still it broke.. maybe has been damaged a little before but I've driven it rarely in those 3 months before I put the diff mount in and still.
So, if I get one of the uprated ones from Vibratech or the like, I guess since there was no Cossie 2wd with the MT75 (or was there?), I'd just get one for a Cossie 4x4?

I researched that a little and found that quite some people were complaining about poor fit (gearbox too high and/or having to rework the mount a little for clearance) and poor insulation (although maybe that was the ppl who didn't clearance it). furthermore I could see that vibratech has 3 different sizes in their offering?
another point i've been wondering about - how about the drivetrain damper, coupler assy, intermediate shaft coupler bearing? do these usually go bad a lot and/or is there any useful uprated alternative? as far as i can see, the 4x4 Cossies have the same drivetrain layout with the 2-piece shaft and the coupler assy even has the same P/N 6518778 ?

Ok, thanks for the input. Didn't see any MT75 cars in your sig, safe for maybe the 24V
Two more questions for me however:
-) how is NVH behavior with that mount, transmission noise became very loud? You specifically linked to the Competition variant.
-) Compatability, i still can't quite believe it since the MT75 is not mentioned in the one you linked, but instead T5 and Type9.. I realize the 4WD cars also had the MT75, but not sure if the mount is maybe completely different here?https://www.amber-performance.co.uk/section.php?xSec=1356&xPage=1] https://www.amber-performance.co.uk/section.php?xSec=1356&xPage=1[/url]
