AB07 cam

AB07 cam
In the other thread about the T36 I saw the AB07 inlet cam being mentioned again. Is this cam a useful upgrade on a standard engine running a T34.48 and Siemens 55s?
From what I've read about it it sounds like it makes the engine make power longer/at higher revs. That sounds a bit the same as changing the exhaust housing to a .63. But the .63 housing also means it will make boost later. Does the AB07 also make boost later compared to the standard cam? And how does the engine run at low revs and idle? With how the engine is now I can cruise at low revs (~1500 rpm) in 5th gear without problems. Is that still possible with the AB07, or does it kill the low down torque?

My car was stage 3 car with t34.48 on greens.
I replaced with TT T35.55, Ab07, light blues, head ports mildly worked, AS inlet manifold, similar boost as before with 21psi held. The combination of changes has freed the top end up considerably making 360bhp at MSD late last year. How much of that is down to the Cam I don't know but with the other parts as well it drives well. It likes to hold onto revs more now rather than feeling a bit breathless at the top end. I wanted it to idle and run like a sewing machine and the AB07 is so mild it fits that bill perfectly.

Don't you need to have pockets in the pistons for the other cams?

So basically it gives the engine a wider power band? The build of boost is not later than with the standard cam? It sounds like a nice upgrade.
And the other important thing would be if an off the shelf chip is available from MSD for such a setup. The nice thing about not being in the UK.

IF there is an off the shelf chip then I expect Stu from MSD can provide it...he is a moderator on here and really helpful and knows his stuff.

Yes I’ve already checked that you don’t need valve cut outs for this cam. If you have valve cut outs there are better cams to go for.
I will check with Stu if I really decide to go for one. At the moment I just wanted a bit more info on the cam. I currently already have an MSD chip and i’m really happy with their chip and their service. But there are other things to buy first...

Cool. My new stroker has Newman Cams written on atleast one of the cams but the spec is to Harvey Gibbs own secret formula so we are just going to try it on the smaller Turbo and then see what it does and change from there if needed.
