Does anyone know if the fog light glass is bonded into the Aluminium casing?

Yes they are bonded, stick them in the oven for a while at around 80 degrees and they pull off no problem.

Cheers for that, I done it at lunch by just gently pushing and they came out easily, the lense came out clean just leaving the grey sealant bonded to the frame.
You dont happen to know what the grey sealant is by any chance Mark?

Sorry, I don't know.
Would have thought any polyurethane type of body sealant would do.

Believe it or not they are still original 30-year-old lenses with not a mark on them, I’m just stripping them to refurbish them and get the reflectors re-plated.

thanks for the link though as it might be worth getting a spare set.

the biggest problem i found was that the bolts holding them into place would corrode as they were aluminium and strip the heads

I repaired mine with tin foil. I cut pieces out and bonded them to the foglight housing.

I know what you mean dojj I had to drill one out! Why is it always the last bolt that gives you trouble.

Was thinking about that Glenn, was going to use some self adhesive tape that you use on ducting, inquired at a couple of online plating companies one came back with a quote to re-silver 4 of the rear reflectors for £288 and the other was £250

Found a local place yesterday that will do them for £40

where was the place that would re-silver them for £40 ?
was this using the vacuum metallising vapour deposition process ?
