Default Cosworth not starting :(

Hi folks.

Just finished building the engine back up for my Saph, put it back in the car, went to fire it up but no such luck.

The timing is spot on. Cranks over fine.

I was getting fuel to the rail but not the injectors. Changed CPS and now injectors are working. It is offering to fire but not quite there, seems as though the inlet is being filled with fuel.

The Amal valve and fuel pump relay continuously click with ignition on and when cranking. Anyone had this before??

Really testing my patience now this car is haha

Thanks in advance

turn ignition on and do a wiggle test im guessing it might be the phase sensor plug giving you problems.

This could be a issue too. fuel can bypass and go down vac line filling the plenum.

Tbh it could be all manner of issues and without the correct test equipment its just a case of trial and error

The first fuel pressure reg was knackered as Costina says it was filling the plenum through the vac line. Changed over and no fuel flowing in vac line now, still no effect on starting

plugs will probably be wet through now after that whip em out and id be looking at changing the oil too as its probably full of petrol, my mate bent a rod in his rs turbo with massive overfuelling like that so make sure the cylinders are empty before you put the plugs back in

Wayne have you tried wiggle test?

The key is in the amal valve clicking and relay. turn ignition on unplug phase see it it cuts the amal valve. I still think the issue is phase sensor wiring or crank sensor.

Is the earths connected to the plenum and are they ok?

Tried wiggle test, no change
All earths are clean, tight and present
Got brand new, dry plugs to put in

We found injector 2 was clicking constantly with ignition on. Tried another Ecu and the clicking stopped but still won't fire up. The fuel doesn't seem to be getting to the cylinders now

How likely is it for all injectors to pack up? I will have a Noid light set to check pulsing tomorrow too

Haven't replaced MAP sensor, would this cause it not to start or just run rubbish?

Car ran spot on until the engine packed in. All we have done is remove and replace the engine until the starting issue

Tried 3 looms now, be sheer bad luck to have 3 knackered ones haha

Cheers. Been at it for 2 days now troubleshooting and it's getting to me now

The actual body of the dizzy?? Seems to be ok though, cap fine too

It seems more a fuel problem. Pump primes, relay works, reg is ok but doesn't seem to get past injectors. I'll get a Noid light set to check pulses tomorrow

Remember the tps is different for L6 and L8

Have a read

www.bigturbo.co.uk

You could try removing fuel rail with injectors plugs and fuel lines connected and use some kind of tube to catch fuel crank and see what happens.

Are all 4 lugs on the crank pulley and make sure the tiny plug on the phase sensor is the right way.
