Default When to change the oil on a YB?

I know they always say to change the oil after xx mile or km. But if you don't do that many miles, should you change the oil every year, every two years? Or just wait until you have done the miles when the oil change should be done anyway?

If you dont do the miles I would be changing the oil yearly. It does realy depend how your using it too. If your only doing 2000 miles a year, but there all on a race track, you would want to change it more often!

As said it depends on anual millage, quality of oil used and how you drive it.

2 years ago I put Silkolene Pro S 10w50 in. Since then I have only done about 1000 - 1500 miles of normal road use (with the occasional full throttle of course). It's on a 320 bhp MSD chip with closed loop and wasted spark if that makes any difference.

i would say every 3000 road miles or twice a year if it gets stood a lot yb's are very good at collecting condensation inside the engine and you will find your oil getting full of water if left standing or just run in and out of the garage everynow and then

Google

Mannesmann Oil Suction Scavenge Pump 12V

OIL change via your dip stick

Still you need to change your oil-filter but no more ramps or pesky trolley jacks involved

Drop the feed pipe in a bowl of very hot water and add a weight to the end to stop it going curly

Its like a rally car scavenger sump pump Works very well

Twice a year ...and now it's just got costly with going big wing.. So thing it holds 6-7L that's Ł80 of oil per change.

If you abuse it like you say you do mate .. I'd advise giving it one more in the year.

Used to do mine before every track day would hate to think the cost of doing that now..
I would have said yearly, I would rather change it than wait for the "your engine is fucked light" to come on ...

3k or not ..I still would mate....mine did 1400 miles last year of total abuse.. Quite a few regulars off here went out with me ... And I've a rule of twice a year .. The engine condensates when there stood so as soon as I'm ready to use it after being stored it always gets one just in case water vapour in the oil and one half through the summer .. Mines always crystal clear that way maybe my OCD but 3k or 1.4 hard and hot oil soon starts to break down slightly IMO

As this man says ^^^, I wouldn't personally go beyond 3k if an engine gets regular abuse and I wouldn't go longer than a year regardless of milage as oil does degrade and break down over time especially with the additives used in synthetics.

Probably around every 5000 km or once a year. What's the original Ford recommendation for oil change, every 10 000 km??

The new oil is in. The oil filter was a bi*ch to change though. Put a EFL600 on now instead of the EFL298, so will probably be easier to get the filter off next time.
