Default Breather plumbing

Hi guys
I know that has been covered loads but it seems that everyone's breather is slightly different.
I have an oil breather with 4 inlets, 2 on the top and 2 at the bottom, I also have a catch tank that goes on the inner wing with 2 ports on it.
Now I have the following ports ready on my engine, kidney box with just outlet on top, inlet manifold vacuum pipe, return below oil level on sump, rocker cover breather and breather fitted to turbo side of the block.
Please can anyone help as the where it all goes, I'm so confused
Many thanks

OK, so this is a picture of my first cossy, with asimilar setup to what you have described. One to rocker cover, one round to catch tank. One to bottom of block on inlet side.and one round to turbo side of block.

On the inlet side, its best to ditch that shitty kidney dish and fit this instead http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RS-Coswort...item337bcc69db

On the front of my catch tank, I just slapped a little breather on it.

Thanks for that mate. My breather has 2 inlets on the top where urs has 3 but has 2 on the bottom. I take it I can use the top ones for rocker and kidney box breather. One of the bottom returns go to the sump. That leaves 1 bottom of breather does this loop round to the catch tank? Or use the catch tank for the turbo side of the block to breath (or even block this back up??)
Do I block off the inlet vacuum hose?

Thank you for the support

This breather I am showing you now only has 4 also mate, This has 3 on top, and one underneath, compared to having 2 on top and 2 underneath.

So if yours have got 4, then it should be the same as this. Rocker cover, catch tank, Block adapter (remove kidney dish), and turbo side block.

The best thing to do is to mount it roughly where you want, and then decide which port will match up with the others. It doesn't matter what goes to what port, but naturally once you have it mounted the pipework is best fitted in which ever way seems the most logical

Personally, if i had 2 inlets on the top, i would make the top 2 go to the rocker cover and the catch tank, and then leave the bottom 2 for the 2 bottom blocks. I had to loop round the back of the engine with some pipe (which i heat guarded), in order to get to the turbo side.

You dont have to have anything connected to anything on the inlet, just block that.

The pic is great mate, thanks, it really helps. What about the return to the sump that the 4wd sump has?? Do I block this off?
Cheers

That breather will do absolutely nothing and you might as well not use it!

Where did you get the breather? 2 on the top and 2 at the bottom? That's strange.

Ideally you want to breath from both sides of the block, and not the rocker cover, as this is all from positive crank case ventilation, which for a roadcar is overkill. Rods Spec-R set up is what you'd want if you were running massive boost, as you're gonna get a lot of blow-by (well more than a normal road car).

Ideally you'd want a 4-port breather, with the two feeds from the block going to the top, the return (ideally with a non-return valve) to below the oil level in the sump and a port on the top to provide only air (and the small amount of entrained oil) to the catch tank.

Shame GGR got rid of their handy guide, but just do a search, thousands of threads on it!

this is the type of breather i have. Thinking top 2 = rocker cover and kidney box (or adaptor) one of the bottom ones return to sump and the other loop round to the catch tank with a filter on???
can just bolt up the turbo side breather and cap off the inlet vacuum??
cheers

To be honest, there are many different applications and diferent setups. Just run it like I said fella will be fine. As long as you have breathed the main 2 from the blocks, you are laughing.

Everyone including different tuners, has different opinions and ideas on how to run things, so just stick to what suits your setup best. Bock the vacuum off from the inlet. Jobs a gooden.

I have no idea why the above poster is saying, "it will do absolutely nothing, best not use it"... Tonnes of people have similar setups to this... and a 4 port breather is the most common one.

I never said don't use it, but I promise you it won't do a thing. There is no effective means of separation buddy, just telling it like it is. That way of plumbing it in will just put a hell of a load of oil in the catch tank, taking it away from where it is useful!

See below, a breather with 4 ports, as the GGR setup;
http://shop.grahamgoode.com/3-port-o...86-66944-p.asp

Look at the diagram below it, that's how a 4 line should be wired up.
