On motorsport-development's site I saw on a photo that purple and blue cables are reversed.

Check the following link (there is a slide show):
http://www.motorsport-developments.c...tedspark.html#

I believe that you will have to send an email to Motorsport Development to find out the correct connections.

James from MSD is a member on this forum, soon when he read this post will reply to solve your problem!

Hi mate, this is what Stu tol me in 2009 when i had issues with my board

The ECU will now run in normal configuration again when you reconnect the original coil and ignition amp wiring.

Getting a faulty driver isnt totally impossible of course but we have only ever had one faulty that I recall so its not common. Most common is bad soldering but people also often get a loom from someone other than me and its not wired the same as mine but thats usually rectified by swapping plug 1 with 2 and 3 with 4.

yes i found the 21 pin with multimeter,so put the one terminal from multimeter to msd wiring loom male plug the first pin from the left (are four pin together),you can confirm that with the original female amplifier plug, the GREEN wire!!!

I am strongly considering buying this conversion for mine, but I'm worried it's not plain sailing after reading some of the horror posts

Do you have a spark or not? the leads look like they are on the wrong way around on the coil pack if im reading the drawing correctly.

Hi,yes i have a spark, also you have two versions in your instructions about coil pack, one for Motorcraft and one for un-labeled,so mine is un-labeled(black one),also i tested both connections....
Thanks

Buy new and you'll have no problems. I had bother with the 2nd hand board I bought, but that's the risk you run when you don't get new parts!

ive just been soldering the wires into my l8 ecu also with this kit, ive still got to solder the grey and purple, was unsure about cutting the pins part of the instructions but i can see now that it is right to cut the pins, my msd wiring loom is labeled which is 21 and which is 26, so only have to link them into the loom, wont have my engine ready to start for a few weeks yet but ill let you know how mine goes

I fitted one to my 3 door went fine, started first time and even the rev counter worked fine which I understand is hit and miss with 3 doors, defo one of the best things I have done to the car. Only issue I had was finding neatest place to fit the coil pack, ended up with it where original coil was. Not perfect but best place I could find.

I'm useless with a soldering iron in fact James can comment on iron i have here it's rubbish so i just payed the little money to them for a mega neat job.
My 3dr rev counter works fine too i don't understand that either and again as above mines been in since 2009 and it's still performing the way it should, in fact i have had to buy a sensor since i fitted this kit

You can see the cut pins here too.

Yes, fire it into the address on the site, dont worry about naming it, just put your details in, and state what its in for as we get loads of ecus everyday.
