Nothing from starter motor.
After a little help please guys coz my 3 door has developed a niggly fault.
Engine starts no problem when cold/first time however once it has been running a while/to fan temp it wont start again. Turn the key and there is literally nothing. I get all the prime buzzing etc but the engine doesnt turn over or clunk or bang or fuck all.
Can anyone help with advice or previous experience? Ive quickly checked connections and they are ok. It defo seems to be temperature related like.

Do the dash lights dim or stay bright, as if they dim the load is going to the starter motor so could be a problem with the motor itself, if they stay bright more likely a electrical connection on solenoid or motor the heat probably disturbs something.

I will have to double check but im pretty sure dash lights go dim.
After a touch of searching, it seams the solinoids can get stuck? Are these actually inside the starter motor? Would they be replaced during a recondition?

It sounds like a heat problem, although it's not an issue usually, given the turbo is on the opposing side, if you say you aren't getting anything at all it could be a problem with the solenoid or starter, the advise given re the lights is very useful here!
It's also worth checking the connections are clean themselves.

Unique to cosworths or 2wd ybb's?
Do you know if a recon would include a new solenoid?
i think if i recon starter/new solenoid/clean all connections and check cabling i will of sorted it somewhere.
