Default phase sensor

hi all, small problem but know the problem, was working at a mates saph cossie the other evening fitting new plugs, cap, arm and phase sensor to try and sort out a missfire. anyway all new bits fitted and went to start her up and nothing, just turned over and wouldnt fire. so i went back along the bits fitted just to make sure everything was ok and checking gaps and all was good, so checked for spark at cyl 1 and sure enough there was spark.anyway we spent a while checking other bits out and eventually we decided to try some old bits on again and hey presto once the old phase sensor was fitted she fired up no prob!!! has anyone else came across this problem before or is it just a case of a duff phase sensor?

magnet was fitted to new one as well

Could be a wiring loom problem too.

I had a similar issue with a new phase sensor so kept my old one in and I was 100% confident it was connected and gapped correctly. So they may be faulty at times. Was it a genuine magneti one,
