Default Saff cossie 4x4 play in turbo shaft

How much play is in a standard saff cossie 4x4 turbo.I was fitting a K&N cone filter today and took the boost pipe off so i thought i would check the play in the saft.

I would say there is about 2/3 mil of play in it.I know modern turbo cars have a very slight bit of play but im a bit worried cause of the play in my the turbo shaft.I know when its running the oil will take up the play but i think mine has a bit to much play????

As Ian said mate a little side to side is ok it is in and out you have to worry about. Does it look like the compressor wheel has touched the housing anywhere?

The play is just up and down it just seems a lot compared to modern turbo shafts that ive felt before. It doesnt look like its been touching.

Side to side ok, in and ok not so ok.
It'll be fine, worry about it when it breaks.

Never good playing with shafts Glenn

Finally, known you for a while now and you've never had any worries about your faithful work horse

But as mentioned, don't worry about it. Knowing cossies, it'll bellow out major amounts of blue smoke before the turbo decides to deteriorate Remember how mine used to blow smoke after overun???
