Default Headwork?

Before i ask this it's NOT one of Steve aka Cossie4i's attension seeking threads..

Genuinley would like to know, would headwork be REALLY benificial to my spec??
T35.55
205 Block
Seimens 72s
NMS Live map etc etc

It made 355bhp/360ft/lb @ 30psi when Mark rollered it @ Motorworx, so more boost to be had too if wanted

Just wondered what headwork and maybe a cam change would do?? or not worth doing ??

I guess the Turbo is the limiting factor to be fair....

Thanks.........

i would leave the exhaust and smoth/flow the inlet a bit better

cams will just move the power around the rev range

4x4 inlet will help the responce a bit maybe with a spacer

but if your happy with what the car does now then save the money for a new camera lol

What a load of crap, head work will improve that spec, end of!

A big of work on the inlet and more so on the exhaust, a 14 inlet cam, would transform that engine and be a good 385/390 bhp

We do so many and a ported head transforms the way they rev and make power

Totally agree, the std head porting is shit, for performance, even on a bog std engine it will transform breathing at the top end compared with std head.

come on jimbo weigh up the price of headwork, then weigh up price of gt30 like cossierich has, gt30 will yield much more power.

of coarse it will transform the engine noone is stupid enough to think it wont, but the cost would outweigh the gains compared to what else can be done.

thats how i always view tuning anyways cost against results.

So you just want a outright power engine? Fair enough bang a bigger turbo on there.

Want a more responsive, more revvy engine, and more power for less boost and less stress on your engine then get a ported head

Not to mention your gt3071 is the best part of a grand or more,

For a grand in headwork, head gasket, Top end rebuild you will make your engine 100%

That in my books is better than another 40 bhp or what ever it makes

I picked up 40hp and 50ftlb on a ported head over a cossie rich spec engine.

dont get me wrong jimbo i do see what your saying, its just from a cost point of view when replacing parts you also have old parts to sell and recoupe ŁŁŁŁ

the only reason i can afford the supra at 30 is because i roll my money on with cars, when it looks like im gonna loose money i sell and atleast break even. i guess im a tight arse but ive had lots of cars through my life and they havnt really cost me sod all BUT i fear that is all about to change lol

im in no way questioning it wouldnt mark, but cost and gain compared to turbo change must be more is all im saying. he will gain 100 hp just from gt30.
im getting ganged up on now lol

Lol you know how I feel on here sometimes I see what your saying, but working with a tuner I guess I see the right way of doing it, and the way to make a engine better is deffinately freeing up the head as its just no good on a yb either way, the awnser to the OP is porting would be worthwhile

To get much more than richs spec it then becomes worth it, The engines are deff better on a ported head but yes it does come down to cost/worth it but you will struggle at this level.

i totally agree it transforms the engines behaviour ive had 2 t4 ybs, proper rs500 t4s one ported head and one standard, standard head was strangled and surgeing until 5500rpm then it was fine whereas ported head pulled smooth 28 psi straight in no surge. i guess it depends if you want an all out no expense spared build or cheapest bang for buck.
op if you can afford it full head job and gt3071, or biggest gain for smallest ŁŁŁŁ wack on a gt3071 and sell the t34.55.

Pete ain't got valve cutouts

I know SOMETIMES a BD14 will fit without cutouts, but more often they don't.

Fook me, this thread's taken on some pace, So basically you're saying, (well some of you) EVEN with a simple Spec like mine headwork will improve it's current state? i knew this BUT i just wanted to know how much and if it was/is worth the cost...

Cheers folks..

PS, Can the 2wd Inlet Manifold allow for 380-400bhp too?? where's it's limits??

That's sold to Matt....

Steve, i honestly don't want over 400bhp mate, i've been there with the saff & my Evos near 500bhp those, a lovely 380-390bhp with similar torque does me fine now matey, i reckon i have good room for improvement here listening to Mark and Jimbo etc...

For me Steve it's not just about making the extra 40bhp/40/ft/lb, the drive on mine i want to improve, it seems a tad laggy imo for the Turbo, should be coming on boost better than where it is, around 3900-4k...

Yeah it's a strange one Steve, defo around that rev range it seems, it's over 3500 anyway.

The 2wd one will be ok for my needs Steve, yes obviously the 4x4 would be better, but if the 2wd is ok upto 400 then hey -ho..

I know you had it for sale but didn't know it had already gone.

Im sure i gained about 10bhp and 10lb/ft when i swapped mine over.

Was on 400s at the time.

Was also done on the same RR.
