2wd T5 gearbox rebuild
I,m looking at getting this done over the coming months and most likely the diff too , how much is a working but tired gearbox going to roughly cost to rebuild/recondition ? Mine is in working order (just about) and being as the engine is coming out soon , now is the best time . Does anywhere stock recon units for exchange too?
Many thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,
My gearbox was Ł580, but everything that could be worn was worn, needing synchro on all 5 gears, a normal build is about Ł350 from the peeps I use, they also do diffs, although there is a ace place in Kent not far from dartford that does diff rebuilds/mods.

If it's whiney it's on borrowed time, the lever mechanism is likely worn for the slop to be there.
At the base of the lever mechanism there is a ball/socket joint, this wears over time, but there is a 100% perfect cure, that's not expensive either.
