The only issue with trying someone else ecu on your car ( if you could get one ) is that if there is a problem with your loom you could damamge thier ecu. At least trying yours on someone elses cant realy damage anything.
I would say send it down to me and i will try it on my saph but my box is off so cant start the damn thing at the mo. Sorry

Have you tried unplugging the CPS etc and seeing if it makes any difference, obviously the car won't run but if the pump etc is ok you know it was that causing it, i doubt it is but it's a process of elimination (As with any fault finding) and it's simple to do!

I know your having problems with it but just keep on looking at it. Dont break the car. Have yet used that web site to check for resistance in the wires from the ecu to the sensors. If you cant fix it get an auto electrican to look at your car.

This happend to my mates when he got his coil pack conversion there was clicking coming from everywhere but when we disconected the coil pack it all just stopped. We also found that the rubber seal around the ecu plug was stopping the plug being connected properly.
Hope this helps

Still no joy, all wiring seems to be ok, found this in the ECU, emailed james @ msd today to get his opinion, so hopefully he can shed some light, but this is what we found.....
Thing is they look as if they have been snipped, so our guess that they are unused when running wasted spark (thats where the wires are going too, the wasted spark board)

EEK thats some pretty shit soldering but dont take my advise.I did work at an a electronics company for 13 years making,TRAINING,and doing the final test on aero space, military, commercial harnesses and looms.Training officer lol.If they have been like that for x amount of years with mega spikes and melted insulation they maybe ok but if it was me I would pull at them and then make sure as there stuck.Nah if you think thats the culprip resolder them so they not dry. Also check continuity from wire to pin with a needle in through the insulation.Vibration is a bad thing for poorly soldered joints. From what you have put previous I still suspect switched power/ign live to engine loom.4X4 different though than 2wd ?.There is a seperate engine loom setup to that of a 4b?.I will get shot down in flames for what I have put but I am not there to see with my own peepers.I hope you get it sorted and get back on it
Edit
What I thought about engine loom,2wd you can disconnect the whole engine loom to try on something else yes ?,but 4x4 you can not ?.
If you were closer you would be quite welcome to use my car for any testing(except speed trials)lol,It aint going anywhere atm !!

Update, had a quick chat with James @ msd and he said to send him the ecu, 4 days later and its back (well, at the sorting office because i missed the delivery ).
Looks like it had an encryption error, not sure how it managed that as its been fine for 2 years, but he fixed it and posted it back FOC, absolutely top service, so a massive thanks to james and all at MSD, have to wait till monday to see if it will actually bloody start now though!

Final update then, had the battery on charge for 4 hours, still only just had enough power to turn it over slowly, so i got fed up and got the jump leads out, she took some cranking but started to kick on 1, then running on 2, then onto 3 and slowly number 4 came to life after a minute or so, and this is it after running for about 3 mins, not bad for a car that's been sat outside with no protection from the elements for over 5 months!
happy now.

Nice one. Just get the money spent. Cossies will give us trouble but at the end of the day there just old cars with old technology. So how come the wires are soldered to the pins but the pins have been cut. I dont understan

Yeh i know the ecu had a software fault but surely the pins in the ecu need to be joined for the soldered wires to work. Cause what is the point in soldering them wires to the pins cause they arnt gonna be doing anything.
